Okay I have a 1991 Chevy Beretta, it is a good running car, you can barely hear the motor running. I have spent at least 1700 worth of work on it, but it has 173,000 miles on it I was wondering how long is a car good for before it breaks down completely. Someone told me a car is good forever as long as you take care of it and keep it running good. Is this true? not to mention people who drive older cars like cars made in the 60s and 70s, they have to have lots of mileage right? but they are still running so how long for a 91 chevy beretta???????

My husband has a Dodge Dakota 4x4 truck {sorry I don't know the year ....maybe '98}. There are about two or three holes in the frame where it has rusted through. Is this something that can be fixed so that it will pass inspection or should we just say goodbye and sell it for the motor and parts?

doesn't want to go into 1st gear.

Everytime I stop my car and start again I have trouble getting my car to go into first gear. It's almost like it locks up or something. Once I get it into gear it does fine.

Does anyone know what could cause this and is this something I should get checked or does it just sound like an overly sensitive gear shift ?

I bought a car from a guy, and I paid him cash. 2 days later, my transmission went out. And the guy didn't replace the windshield or mirror knob, both of which he said he would replace. He sells cars on a regular basis, but it's a completely under the table type of thing. And I heard that in the state of Missouri you can only sell 5 cars a year. So according to that, he's completely in the wrong. But I can't find anything that actually says that you can only sell 5 cars a year. If any of you guys could help me out with that it would be greatly appreciated! Because otherwise I'm out $1500+ for all of the repairs...

I have a Honda Accord EX V6 - 2001. Started a couple of weeks ago, the maintenance required light would flash while I am driving. When the light flashes for couple seconds, all the meters on the Dashboard (i.e. Gas, Speedometer, etc) would drop to zero. This is happening frequently.

I took my car to the dealer and dealer does not know what would cause the problem and want to charge $200 to run tests.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks!

Car was working perfectly fine, just a bit sluggish, and since it's an 1989 Toyota Corolla 4dr with 2Bl carb, i figured i'd change it out, it's only $64 bucks anyway.

After I changed out the fuel pump which was easy since it was two 12mm bolts and 3 rubber fuel lines since the fuel pump is mechanical next to the head on the camshaft, it ran great for about a total of 25 miles, 7 engine starts and stops till i got home and shut the car off.

This morning I drove to work and halfway there (20 miles) on the freeway it just stopped accelerating like it was getting no fuel. I came to a stop and towed it to a gas station. 15 mins later the car turns on fine and idles for 5 mins good. I try to drive it and it works good, but as soon as i get on it to get on the freeway it dies again.

There is only one fuel pump on this car (new), and one fuel filter (new). There are none in the gas tank. What could be wrong with it? a faulty fuel pump that i should take back?
