There are some imaginative answers here.

ABS does indeed stand for anti-lock braking system. You will see on you wheels a geared disk, usually located inside your brake disk. The system compares vehicle speed (measured by the speedo) to wheel speed (measured by the aforementioned geared ring.) When the two don't match, that means the wheel in question is slipping. The system automatically releases the brakes for a split second on that wheel so it can regain traction.

On a moto, the system can sometimes be turned off. Under aggressive riding some riders like the "feel" of no ABS under these conditions. In the rain and slippery conditions ABS is widely appreciated. Treat it like a warning system: if it engages, slow down and re-examine the surface conditions.

And have fun riding!

anti lock braking system. It prevents the wheels from locking up and causing you to lose control and wreck. Good stuff.

ABS is an anti-breaking system in cars which prevents the breaks from "seizing or locking" and causing an accident when heavy or sudden breaking is applied in an emergency. I presume those on your bike are the same.

Anti lock braking system. When you apply the brakes, they don't lock (they pump instead), so reducing skidding.
