doesn't want to go into 1st gear.

Everytime I stop my car and start again I have trouble getting my car to go into first gear. It's almost like it locks up or something. Once I get it into gear it does fine.

Does anyone know what could cause this and is this something I should get checked or does it just sound like an overly sensitive gear shift ?

you have a clutch component failing...take to to a reputable shop and have your clutch checked out. my guess is the pilot bushing or the throwout bearing is failing

check clutch fluid level. this problem always shows up with first gear before any other as 1st gear is the biggest cog in the gearbox. also look for any leaks under the car.
good luck.

It's not the clutch. First gear is the first one to fail when syncros go bad.

It should not do this. You could have something out of adjustment or the clutch could be faulty or you could even have a problem in the transmission.

get it checked out.. could be something as small as needing some type of fluid or something as big as needing a new tranny... don't wait.. it will only get worse!!!
