Cars & Transportation - 10 December 2006

Whenever I have to do a lot of stopping and starting, my 1982 VW Golf overheats. The revs are also very high when I begin to drive it - especially when I put the clutch down - but this usually clears itself once I get a clear run without any stopping (not often in London!). I've taken it to the garage and they can't find anything wrong with it. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have a 4 door 1997 toyota RAV4.
It's older but I'm trying to fix it up a bit. Sort of a DIY Pimp My Ride.
I'm looking for a car bra for the front end.
Can anyone recommend a good easy to install car bra?

I want a tax disk holder, steering wheel cover and maybe seat covers. It would have to be hot pink. If that would look rubbish, which colours would work? I really want to personalise my first car and pink is so my colour.

Bascially the above - why use these colours? Do these wave lengths travel further or is it just historic? If its just historic, why isnt it changed to make allowances for those who are red/green colour blind?

My check engine light came on a couple days ago and I'm wondering what could be wrong.
The temperature gage reads normal
All the fluids are good (brake, power steering, coolant, oil, washer)
The belts are tight
Everything sounds the same when it runs
The car performs the same as it allways has
Does anyone have any Ideas? I'm more of a do-it-yourselfer, so I'm not looking for everyone to tell me to take it to a registered service provider. Thanks for your help!

I have replaced the spark plugs on my 1971 DODGE DART.how about the plug wires,cap and rotor,and points?Is it hard to rebuild the carb?Does a carb. kit cost alot?Can my float/needel and seat stick and flood the crankcase?Is it possible to have to small of a fuel fillter installed and the fuel pump pumping more fuel than needed ond than damage the gaskets of the carb?There is a few wet spots on the sides of my carb.why is this?When replacing the front brakes,is it neccessary to bleed the brakes?How do I check to see if my gas gauge in the dash is broken or if the gauge in the tank is?One more thing,the same car my 1971 DODGE DART,It turns further one way,and not as far in the other,what could cause this? I have an '86 Ranger with a 2.3L EFI and it's running lean due to a vacuum leak. I've already checked all the intake gaskets and sealed them with RTV but it still runs to lean. Could it possibly be the vacuum lines?
