Given the number of parts in a new vehicle, you are not likely to find an "American" made car. Many reported facts get by with refering to the car as being made in North America - not necessarily only the United States.

As to which brand, you need to determine what your truck needs will be first. Some people only need a compact while others may need a larger truck. Towing, payload, off-roading, fun or work vehicle - these are some things that can influence your decision.

After that, you should just go look at some of the trucks you may be interested in. Some you will eliminate based on available equipment (i.e. you may want a V8, but it is only available with a V6). Others you may eliminate based on styling.

Once you have narrowed your list, you should go test drive the ones you think you will like. While driving keep a running tab of the pros and cons. This is likely to eliminate some additional vehicles.

Then rank the remaining vehicles based on your test drive. If you feel like the first one is the one you have to get, start shopping. If there is not enough difference in your preferences, you have more leverage during the price negotiations.

All of them will have parts from just about every corner of the world.

Ford and dodge have been around about the same amount of time that shouldn't matter though. I would pick the dodge. I would not wish a ford on anybody. Fords are bad mkay.

Well 2 years ago I would have said ford until the recent merger with General Motors yes thats right GM now owns Ford Motor Company after Several centuries ford has reduced there values over the next 3 years Ford will be produceing Vehicles as cheaply as possiable so thst they will have a profit on the sale so now I would recomend a Dodge be cause the fact that not only are their vehicles stylish but they also come with great warranty's that ford gm and others can't match and the prices are still reasonable also if you want a HD truck the Cummin I-6 is a 1,000,000 mile engine.

If you want it to last go with the "German" Dodge. In Edmunds test the last-gen Chevy won, and their new ones are even better. In the luxury standpoint they said the Dodge was best. The Chevys Japanese engines will outlast anything else. Ford also had more recalls than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined.

Americans don't make good ANYTHING any more!
