I have an '86 Ranger with a 2.3L EFI and it's running lean due to a vacuum leak. I've already checked all the intake gaskets and sealed them with RTV but it still runs to lean. Could it possibly be the vacuum lines?

Make certain your fuel injectors are not clogged, use cleaners and change filter. check throttle housing connections , give everything a good shake to make sure it is on tight, odds are on that old of vehicle is that the plastic and rubber parts have cracked you may have more than just one leak.

probably.

an easy way to start looking is get a propane torch, and just open the gas and wave it around your engine, along the vacuum lines. if one of them is cracked and sucking air, it will suck propane into the intake which will cause the engine to rev upon receiving the extra fuel

or you can buy a vacuum guage for about 30$. you need one to work on modern cars. just test each hose see if it holds pressure, and replace as needed.

initiate the vehicle up and enable it run..... spray a delicate lube like WD-40 over the Lancomelines and alongside the intake manifold. try this slowly- listening for any replace in engine velocity. this could help you come across the vacume leak.

vacuum hoses are cheap , replace them all , hope you used "sensor safe " silicone or you may have other issues.
