My brake lights won't shut off so I went to check the brake switch, and sure enough the plastic stopper had broke off from age and
Florida heat. I am a chick and don't know much about cars but I don't have money to go to a mechanic. If I can buy the part myself and do it myself, then I would love to but is it complicated? Please help, thanks :)

I have a VW Bora with chrome piping around the body of the car. When getting out of the car in a tight space, the chrome piping in the middle of the rear door caught on the side pocket of my trousers and bent it outwards :-(

To straighten the piping I need to remove it from the bodywork but am unsure how it is removed. I don't want to pull it off and then find I have broken it completely.

Does anyone know how to remove the piping on the exterior of a door panel?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

I am trying to help a friend of mine change his headlight bulb (just the bulb, not the whole assembly). He has a 1997 Olds Cutlass, and we're not sure how to gain access to the bulb. The headlight assembly has metal plates behind it, so we don't have direct access to the bulb. I've never come across a vehicle that doesn't offere easy direct access to the bulb. I'm thinking we're going to have to pull the whole headlight assembly forward in order to get to the bulb, but we're not exactly sure how.

Come to think of it, this also brings up the question: How many automotive novices does it take to change a headlight bulb?

Thanks.

My brother drives a 18 wheeler (semi) for a living, he would like to be able to shut off his truck at night (save a ton of fuel and no emissions) and still keep his crankcase (oil) warm. Are there any DC powered heaters? Maybe batteries with an inverter?

Thanks, Big Dog

my 72 chevy (c10, manual trans) blinkers stopped working the other day. neither blinker flashes, it just stays illuminted when i hit the switch. the emergency flashers work fine as long as im off the brake. if i push brake pedal the flashers stop flashing and stay lit. im thinking it has to be a ground problem? but could it also be in the brake switch or turn signal switch? any info would be appreciated

I never found the brake switch but one user said " On most cars there is a small piece of plastic attached to the pedal arm that depresses the switch and over time tends to break off. "

I'll be damn if I didn't found a piece of a green plastic thingy on the floor right beneath the brake. Hopefully this will be cheap to fix. I am so glad that I found this Yahoo answer thing, it;s amazing how quick people respond and how educated you all are, thanks so much and happy holidays!
