Can collection agency contact you for more money after the payment is payed off?

I payed the delinquent sum in full on 2/14/07.

They contacted me 2/26/07 to pay daily interest charges acquired from 1/24/07 to 2/14/07. He didn't mention anything about later payment when I was paying the entire debt on 2/14/07.

What can I do?

In particular a company called credit for all or any other repair company. They say they can remove bad credit from your file mainly because most of the finance companys dont keep great records thus unable to provide proof so you can get items removed.

When I first got a credit card, I went buck wild and spent to whole $2000 limit.
Now, after ignoring it and not being about to pay for so long, my total amount due is approx. $3500.
I've now saved over $2000, and i was wondering if the company, Citibank, would let me pay the premium, and not the interests and fees, as I cannot afford all of it. Not even to make the monthly payments (which have stopped). Thank you.

My mom had a credit card and she had a second credit card issued for me. It was still her account but I was an authorized user. Now, it has defaulted and I see it is on my credit report even though it wasn't my account. Do they have the right to do that?

I am of low income and when I was 18 my mother signed me up for a bunch of credit cards. I am now 23 and have not had the means to pay off the maxed out credit cards. I am in college and i work part time. What I would like to know is how can I handle my debt? 85% percent of the items on my credit report have been charged off. I heard that even if I pay the amount owed it would still have a negative impact on my report. I also heard that after seven years the items drop off of your report. Well if the items are no longer on my report will they still affect my credit score. I don't really understand how this works. Please help...

I filed for bankruptcy (Chapter 13) two years ago and the house still went into foreclosure. I know that this impacted my credit tremendously, but I am getting over the hurt. What are my chances of purchasing another home?

Can a foreclosure be removed from your credit after a year? How long does this stay on your credit report?

I thought there was a law that prevented them from going higher than a certain number. I used to see the highest rate being 21% but now it seems to be up to and over 30%! This is why I don't have any credit cards but how can they do this legally???

Plus, the grace period for these cards are getting shorter (21 days instead of the expected month) meaning your interest accrues several times more frequently that you think, making you pay interest on interest charges. How come people still use these horrible things?

Do they just disappear after a certain number of years? I've heard that and never knew. I actually don't have any on my credit, thank God, but I'm just curious.

Thanks. =)

I have just had a bad credit mark put against my name - from an old student overdraft I had.

I was wondering will this affect my taking out a new fixed term offer with the same company or a different lender??

The bad debt was paid off within a month of me being notified that a debt collection agency had been put in charge of it.

Also, I was told that they were sending my debt to a collection agency before it happened...... should I contact the FSA??

Thanks for any help that you give to me.

I was called down to the lobby and asked for my car keys by a repo man. I was a little taken by surprise. I was 1 payment behind and called the company who owned my car loan the next day to find out how to get it back. I had to pay a $400 dollar fee for a 2 day storage on the car. I overnight expressed the payment to the loan company and paid them $400 dollars for 2 days worth of storage and for the fee of the car re po man. I drove 50 miles from home to pick up my car and the guy who had my car charged me about $350 dollars for storage on his lot. I thought that is what I paid to the loan company. Was he allowed to do that or was he being a crook trying to scam money because he knew I had it. Is there anywhere to report the guy?

My dad was 81 yrs old and in a nursing home for about 4 yrs when he died 2 yrs ago. He was deaf and a little confused at times. He was a sweet little old man.
Over the last 1 1/2 yrs, a collection agency is hounding me to pay a gigantic cell phone bill over $1200 bucks and now I am recieving a copy of sports illustrated in Spanish. My dad did not speak spanish or understand it. He didnt like sports and would never have ordered that magazine. He was very hard of hearing and did not have a cell phone and would have never ordered one.
I suspicion someone is using his identity. Should I report this somewhere or just let it go? Who do you tell this is happening?

I have excellent credit and do not need any more cards, but some of the offers we receive in the mail look too good to pass up. Is it harmful to obtain them and then later cancel them, if you maintain a good record?
