How is it that with a Provident loan the interest can be up to 500%, how can this be legal? I'm just curious about how these greedy people get away with charging the poorer people of society such exorbitant fees? Surely if the interest was lower then these people wouldn't have trouble repaying the loan? (No I don't have a loan with them, I stumbled across them by accident, and my goodness what a shock that was).

I have a daughter. At the moment she is un-employed. Her last employer made it plain that she was going to be sacked. She left because it was becomming impossible to work for them. That has meant that she cannot register as un-employed. That is a situation that is being looked into. Un-fair dismissal etc. The immediate problem she has is a bank loan. She has had a very large amount taken from her account by this same bank. This falls under the unfair charges situation. That is also being looked at. What I need to know is... She has spoken to the bank about het financial situation. They said only that it is not their problem. That is very true. But not wanting to make things worse she wanted to know if she could pay an outstanding loan at a lesser amount, so at least she is paying some off. All they will say is. You will have to take out another loan. I need to know if she can make an offer to pay off the loan and can the bank just dismiss her offer...

My question is, is there a way to catch up and get rid of the collection and get out of debt? If so what different routes are there to choose from?

Basically, what keeps it from going down? And what makes it go up? I'm new to the whole credit card thing. I just turned 18 and only have one Visa from Wells Fargo. I've only had 3 bills and I've paid them all in full the first cycle each time. I've now encountered my first bill where I will not be able to pay the full amount outright on the first cycle to get it back to a $0.00 Outstanding balance. If the bill is say...$700 and the card itself has a $1200.00 limit, How much should I pay off now? If I don't pay it off in full now, will my credit score go down? Minimum Payments are $25, but I doubt that's a good idea either. Please help get me out of the dark on this. Thank you all!

I have contacted many dealers and banks and all of them told me that I needed a co-signer. I have no one to do it for me. This is a very large problem because I need a car. I really don't trust the used car places. What do I need to do so that I can get a car by this summer?

I just received a pre-approved Visa credit application, and was about to put it in the shredder when I thought to read it first.

At one point in the contract it says credit line: up to $5000, at another point it says if I meet the all the requirements I will receive an account with a line of credit of at least $300. Question which is the amount I that I will be granted to use?

At one point it says APR is 19.99% , but at another point it says APR will not exceed 29.99%. How do I know what rate I will be charged?

I have read the contract several times and my head is swimming. Should I proceed to the shredder? Thank you.

My daughter just did a very, very stupid thing. She cosigned for a loan with her boyfriend. A 10,000 dollar loan, for a car, no less. (She drives a $500 Camry)

I pay for her insurance, both car and health, and we cosigned for her first student loan. (She has two of them now).

Now that she is tied to him through this loan, I am afraid that we, her parents, are now tied to him as well. If he defaults on this loan, and she is not able to pay it off, will they come after us?

Can I lose my home because of my daughter's stupid mistake?

Apparently my credit card company (MBNA) has been charging me for a credit protection plan for at least a year now. I was planning to cancel the card, which I've paid off - but apparently I've already paid at least a thousand into the protection plan. I didn't know about that, and certainly didn't agree to it - can I get that money back? They aren't open until Monday, and I'm worried now.

I need help please. I as a student incurred many debts and 2 years back learnt that the accoutns were in default. I called up the banks (wells fargo, BOA and few others) only to learn that the accoutns had been closed or were referred to collection agencies. I contacted the agencies and inspite of being enticed to pay in part only I went ahead and completely paid off about 9000$ through 4 credit card accounts in 5 months. I requested them to report it as paid. Now when I go through my credit report after 2 years I see that they have mentioned the accounts as $**** written off! Is this something I can dispute. I did the best I could and paid off the amounts in whole. I don't have the receipts as the payments were direct debit transfers but I can order bank statements if I have to. I would really appreciate some inpute from you on the credit forum.
