I need cedit. I'm a student and a stay at home mom and I need to get credit to at least get one credit card. Everyone that I want says that I don't have any credit. What's the best way to get some?

Apply for a credit card for a store you're not tempted to shop at much (ie. Victoria's Secret), so you'll be able to pay it off more easily and quickly. Or apply for a Macy's card. They accept everyone!!

I'm also a student and had difficulty getting credit as well. I was turned down for even the highest interest rate cards in department stores. I had a relative with good credit cosign a low interest loan with me at a local savings bank. It was for the minimum amount (which was a thousand dollars.) I made all the payments on time and in the process got several credit card offers. I took the first card I got regardless of the interest rate (take what you can get when the pickings are slim) and charged a very low amount of money on it- gas, small purchases etc. I made all the payments on time and gradually got better offers with higher credit limits. When I got a card that suited me, I closed the first card I got and stuck with this one. Essentially, I bought my credit by paying the loan off with the interest rate. Establishing credit is difficult but this is one effective method. Also you're credit might be poor. You can check your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com. There are 3 major credit bureaus which allow you to view your report once every year for free. It is best to stagger each every four months. Check for possible errors in your credit report that might be causing credit card companies to turn you down. This is just another possibility. Hope this helps.

You NEVER "need" a credit card or credit period...you WANT it. You cannot afford to pay even 1 penny in interest charges. My granny raised 4 kids after being widowed then divorced. She had come here from Germany & barely spoke English, yet she learned it, went to beauty school, paid off her house & never charged anything else. She got no child support, no welfare of any kind & no social security for the kids (her 1st hubby died in Germany). She is 75 now, she has a lovely PAID FOR house & car, no debt & longterm care insurance. The lesson here: Don't sacrifice your financial future for what you think you are suffering without today! At least before you apply for another card, get a copy of the book below from the public library or a bookstore. Then at least you will have been warned. If you are still dense enough after reading it to go into debt anyway, I guess that is your right, but I hope you choose better.

Capital one is your best chance for a "Normal" credit card. If they dont accept you, cross country will. But be warned. they will give you a 300 dollar limit and charge you 225 dollars in fees for getting the card.

Or if you just need to establish credit, have a friend or parent that has excellent credit, put you on one of their credit cards, but tell them they DONT have to give you teh card. By doing this, you are "borrowing" their credit history which makes it easier for you to apply for and get a credit card of your own. Do not get someone that has missed payments on their credit cards, or you will just be totally screwed. You need to be put on a card that has had perfect history and never went over the maximum limit.

I don't understand your problem. If everyone is saying that you don't have credit you won't get a creditcard.

Save!

I have placed this in the source box. There is a wealth of information there and a great free debt management software program. I bookmarked the site as I return to it often for the advice it offers. I hope this helps you.
