I had credit problems in the past but its been two years now since I graduated from college and now with a good job I am trying to fix my credit. I pay off already most of my old debt that was in collection. I also have one judgement in my credit report. Should I wait a few months till my credit score is better? My credit score have improved a lot in the last two years. I also check my VantageScore and that is an F or 595. Do car dealerships check both credit scores FICO and Vantage? The car I want is a Honda civic and my income is around 40 k

Okay, I'm going to get my financial aid in a few weeks. (2 grand) I'm planning on using all that money to pay off some of my debts, but I'm not sure which is a smarter thing to do. Should I split that money to pay of some of these debts? Or should I pay 1 whole credit card off?
Here are my debts: Citi (finance charge 18.24%) balance: $2,389; Wamu CC (finance charge: 15%) balance: $714;
Houshold bank (finance charge: 12.24%) balance: $246;
Chase (finance charge 24.24%) balance: $611;
and Capital One (finance charge 23.3%) balance: $414.
Thanks for your opinion

I've had this account for about two years, and I haven't used it in a long time, and I'm thinking of closing it but I don't know how it would affect my credit report. This is a secure credit card, with only a $300 limit. I have two other credit cards that I use a lot more often and I've been very responsible about paying bills on time.

This person either used to have the same number as me or is giving out my number as her own. We get calls or messages for her every day and this morning they woke me up.
We tell them they have the wrong number, but they keep calling. How do I prove to them that they have the wrong number, and do I have legal recourse if the calls won't stop?

Hello. I'm 16 years old and I was wondering if I would be able to obtain a credit anywhere. If you know any company I can get a credit card from, please tell me.

Preferably: no extra fees.

And I have a question: If I was to build up credit on for example "Visa"...And Later on I get a master card, would my credit from Visa be transfered to the master card?

Thanks.

I have a bill that is $724.00 in collections. They told me that they can give me a settlement deal of $543.00. If I take the settlement I will only get half of the points back. I really dont know what that means so Im not sure what to do. I want to buy a house this summer. Is the $180.00 that I would save worth half of the points?

I want to start building up my credit, I'm 21 and I have none. I was thinking of getting a Kohl's department store charge. They have great deals on clearance clothes there, and with the card it's usually an additional 10% off. Or would it be better for me to get a card through my bank or someone like Capital One? Any other suggestions on building my credit I would really appreciate. Thanks!

I have just paid off my final long standing unsecured debt (from my heady student days) and have started paying my bills off on-time (BT and credit cards) but obviously my credit history is less than desirable. Now that my debts are labelled satisified on my Equifax/Experian, how long before I can apply for substantial, normal interest credit again (necessary for a car and my work)? I earn well and have been in secure emplyment for 6 years.

Hi all, I'm in a Vicious circle.

I was paying an old Poll Tax Bill at £80 a month, been doing this for about a year, However, last November I did not pay it, I had a lot of bills that month which consequently meant that my account was empty before the standing order was fufilled.
Half way through December I got a letter from the council stating that a Detatchment of Earning was going to be taken from my wages.
I accepted the fact that this money was going to come out of my account in Jan pay packet.
However come Jan, they took out £450. that left me totally broke, I only had enough left to pay my rent and a few other things.
My loan was not paid nor was my credit card because I had nothing left.
This month I have found out that the bank paid my loan anyway but because of that and £100 worth of charges has left me £320 overdrawn.
Another DOE come out again, this time £244(which is the last one)
But now I still have only enough to pay my rent.
So I'm in a vicious circle.

I had a problem where I had to pay a bill for my Aunt unexpectedly while she was on vacation. Long story short, I was house-sitting for her, problems came up with her pets, and I ended up paying $315.
It didn’t bother me that I had to pay $315 since I knew she can pay me back. What bothered me was that when I paid the bill the Checked bounced. The problem was that I did have a sufficient amount to pay off the bill. What had happened was when I added money to my account it cleared the day before the check got cleared. And for some reason, that caused a problem.
I called customer service and they told me something about how the payments got crossed or something, well she said it’s not my fault and she even refunded the fee that I was charged.
So far the bill that I paid went through, but now I am concerned about my Credit score. Does this affect me in any way?
Thanks for the support!

I cannot do debt consolidation. I would rather not declare bankruptcy. A dishonest ex-husband dumped his debts on me when he shocked me by divorcing me two years ago after 14 years of marriage. This was in TEXAS.
