Since you were denied credit, you can get a free copy of your credit report in addition to the one the government allows. Say that you're requesting a copy because you were denied credit and they have to give you a free copy. Look for inaccuracies and report/fix them.

Well, since those other guys didn't answer your question, but rather spammed their favorite causes, I will attempt to give you possible reasons as to why this happened.

The most likely reason is that you have bad credit. However, if you think this is not the case, then you need to get your credit reports and review them. In my opinion as a professional credit advisor, I recommend every three months, but at least once a year.

You may have a SSN that is similar to someone elses and their information is "leaking" onto your report. This is common. Because the Credit Bureaus don't care about you or what it is that they are reporting about you, it is your responsibility to check your report periodically. Remember, the credit bureaus only care about the money they make off of your name, nothing else.

You may have a name similar to someone else's whose information is "leaking" onto your report. See above paragraph.

It is entirely possible that the car lot sent your information to a couple dozen lenders to see who would provide you with the best loan option. Each one of those lenders will have pulled up your file and each time that happened, your credit score droped four to 10 points.

Those are the four MOST LIKELY reasons for this scenario. There are probably 100 or more other scenarios that are also possible. But I am not going into those since they are unlikely.

You will need to contact Transunion and find out what is on your credit report.

Transunion is a credit reporting agency. They only report what other lenders have reported to them. If you have a credit card and are late on the payments, your credit card company is going to report it to Transunion.

Under federal law, you have a right to know why you were turned down for credit but to do that, you have to ask and the people to ask are Transunion.

You also have a right to view your credit reports from all three credit reporting agencies for free, once a year. To do that, go to the link below.

You won't know why until you ask. Look at your credit reports and make sure all items on the report are correct. If they are not, file a dispute.

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution.

I will hereby talk from my personal experience.

I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,

a good place to start in my humble opinion is astraight to the point ebook with question and answer I found :
