I just went to www.freecreditreport.com and I got to the point that I could view my credit report.. but then it said I could not because there is a freeze on my identity?? What does that mean? How can I get this resolved.. or figure out what is going on? What are some reasons this could be happening?

Check with www.AnnualCreditReport.com and see if the same thing is reported. It's free.

The only one who can put a freeze of that type on your account is you, and it's done due to identity theft.

Free Credit Report is probably trying to scare you into signing up (pay) for something.

That's odd... I would NOT suggest freecreditreport.com because it isn't really free... if you want your credit reports for free, annualcreditreport.com is the government's website. A freeze on your identity means that you have to enter a PIN to allow others to access your credit report. It's so that if someone has your name, social security #, and date of birth, they cannot establish a line of credit for you. If you did not request the freeze, call the credit bureaus and the police.

Otherwise, you may have entered inaccurate information (the wrong social security numer, address, etc).

The only person that can put a freeze on your report is you. Call the credit bureaus and ask them to release the freeze and you should not have any more problems.

You need to call the credit reporting agency. I don't exactly know what that means, but I would assume someone is trying to steal your identity. So, call the credit reporting agency ASAP!!!

I couldn't tell you how to resolve this not positive. But, you must have told them or someone you wanted you id, frozen so no one can see it. Maybe you can go back and find a place where you can ask why it is frozen, maybe you have a secret question you have to answer, like what is your mothers maiden name or what is your pets name. Worth the try.
