I have just paid off my final long standing unsecured debt (from my heady student days) and have started paying my bills off on-time (BT and credit cards) but obviously my credit history is less than desirable. Now that my debts are labelled satisified on my Equifax/Experian, how long before I can apply for substantial, normal interest credit again (necessary for a car and my work)? I earn well and have been in secure emplyment for 6 years.

You will see improvements in as little as 6 months. Keep paying on time and your score will continue to rise.

It depends on what you are doing to improve it.

Paying bills ON TIME is key. Reducing debt is also key.

Once you have a history of paying on time, those little boxes on your credit report will start saying "paying as agreed". It takes a few months for the actual credit score numbers to go up though. They are also looking at the amount of debt. If you have maxed out cards, your debt ratio is too high.

Taking out more cards is not going to do you any good. They'll see that you are applying for cards all over the place (every time you apply for one, it shows up on your report that you applied, whether you got the card or not). However, having a couple credit cards, using them regularly and paying the balance off every month helps. It shows that you are meeting your debt obligations and those monthly payments will show up on your report.

Your argument fails from the starting up. the following is why. genuine, decision power study and progression has been ongoing for decades. notwithstanding, it takes that lengthy--and longer--todevelop any new technologies. and far of it really is now cost-helpful. look at historic past. The railroads were given authorities help for more suitable than 50 years interior the 19th century. plane organizations and airways were sponsored by the authorities for over 30 years. computer technologies study became extra regularly than not authorities funded from it really is inception interior the Nineteen Forties until eventually the Eighties. by the way, neither fusion or hydrogen technologies is "new"--they have been below study and progression because the Nineteen Sixties. And neither of those--unlike image voltaic or wind means--is even closeto being commercially possible. also, you're incorrect in assuming that cost on my own is the criterion--lower back, lookat historic past. vehicles were extra exxpensive to commence with than horses. Air commute became--and nevertheless is-the most expensiveform of lengthy distance transportation. If a clean technologies grants collateral reward that offset equivalent or larger prices, it will be doable. cost isn't the in effortless words parameter you should guage. If it were--each vehicle we've would already be electric powered--it really is more affordable to construct and perform and has been for 40 years. It hasn't develop into the classic no longer because of cost, yet because until eventually lately, electrics did no longer have the variety and means that customers pick (they do now). finally, you're saying"deepest funding has grown weary" of different power. the following, you're in simple terms incorrect. the following is a few confusing numbers: in 2006 deepest entrepreneurs invested $a million.5 billion in study and new capital plant in decision enrgy--in simple terms in "Silicon Valley" (the Palo Alto intense-tech concentration in CA. In $2007 the discern rose to $3.5 billion. so a recommendations this year, its on course to exceed that discern--inspite of the monetary woes we are having. entrepreneurs and challenge capitalists are flocking to decision power technologies.
