Hi all, I have VISA student credit card that I had since my sophmore year in college which is 7 years ago. They started me out with $500 initially and now my credit line slowly increased over the years to $8500. I dont have a balance on it as i only charge my $35 monthly gym membership on it and pay off when bill comes.
I have another Credit card which is another VISA but it is a platinum with $20,000 credit line with $800 a balance. I only have 2 credit cards and they both are VISA, Im thinking about applying for a Master Card and cancel my VISA Student credit card. Will canceling the student credit card hurt me or not canceling it will help my credit as I ahve had this card for 7 years and NEVER once late payment. My credit score is 776 and I'm just trying to do my best to keep it in good shape. Please let me know if I should keep the Student Credit Card or Cancel Iit. Thanks for all your advice in advance.

PS: i heard it is good to have a Visa and a MasterCard for your credit?

My fiancé and I are getting married April 28th and we have run into some unexpected financial expenses. To make a long story short, we are about $1,500 short of what we need for the wedding. We both go to school and work, so we can’t pick up extra jobs and we have tried to take out a couple personal loans, but both times we were denied. We have no family or friends that can help us with the money either, we have already asked. Without the $1,500 (which is for food and officant fees) there will pretty much be no wedding. We have no clue what to do. Does anyone have any financial advice ( loans for people with no so great credit, or loan alternatives) Absolutely any significant advice will be helpful, we are at the end of our ropes here.

The loan was defaulted over a year ago but the creditor has not picked it up. Can it be relicensed (tags expired) and driven? Don't want to do anything illegal. Have tried to contact the original creditor but no response.

I did some research through yahoo answers and instead of paying 1000 dollars for my loan through tricorp lending services, i didnt do it because some of the answers i got back from you. i have never tooken out a loan before and i have really bad credit so a little cash down wouldnt wouldnt be unrealistic to show a little good faith on my part. this other company wants 600. so i guess my question is. is it unrealisttic to put money down for a loan

A few years ago I purchased a total lemon car from a local dealership. The car was falling apart left and right. I couldn't afford to be making endless repairs to the car in addition to my car payments, so I decided to surrender it because it was more of a problem that it was worth.

So of course, I got a "repo" on my credit report because of it, as well as an unpaid remaining balance. One day I got a call from an agency who bought my account from the original finance company, and they offered me a "deal." They said if I agreed to make monthly payments on the balance, they would significantly lower the balance for me (from like $8000 to $3000) and that it would be written off as a settlement on my credit report after I've paid off the balance.

Now that I'm only a few months away from paying that balance off, I'm wondering if it was even worth it in the first place. I don't know what a settlement is or what it's regarded as on a credit report.
Could someone enlighten me? Thanks!

I opened a cell phone account back in 2002 for a friend. I thought the account was switched to his name, but the phone company lied; they can't really do that, so it was still in my name. They kept charging the account every month, even tho it wasn't being paid on. In 2004 they sent collections after me. I was told if I paid 1/2 the balance immediately that the account would be settled. Now, 3 years later, they're coming after me for the other half. Can they do that? I have a letter from the original collection agency saying my payment was accepted as "full and complete settlement of the account."

How high can a credit card company raise your interest rate? Is there a legal limit or a place I can find out?
Thank you!!

I want to start cleaning my credit report. I have a history of paying my car payment late. It is no more than thirty days late, but I know that it has been reported. I am trying to get back on track and it is hard but starting this month with my new job I am going to be on time. What else can I do to better my credit score? How far back do most creditors look when considering a credit application? Any advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

She has over $25,000 of debt and has trouble making the minimum payments. We do not own a home and pay rent and auto loan monthly as well as the usual expenses. I looked at debt consolidation loans, and debt counseling sites and there is so much conflicting information. Anyone who has gone through the same or works in the field any advice?

Im looking for a loan or advice on what financial institution i could contact to get me over this hump. If i can survive till may i will be fine but i need some working capital, pay my ins, rent for garage and other operating expenses. Ive been in business for 2 1/2 years. I recently just got back stabbed by a former partner so now im in a big mess. I will be ok if i can make it till may but a small loan ($30, 000) or a flexible line of credit would help me greatly. I dont have any collateral and im behind on my taxes. I do, however have bank records of lots of deposits and a hoistory of healthy movement. Please keep all of this in mind when you decide to give an answer. Thank You all for your wisdom.

I have done some research but can't find the answer to this. I know that once the statute of limitations for credit collections is expired, they can't contact you anymore, and you're no longer responsible for repaying the debt. I've read that after a total of 7 years, negative entries can be removed, but no where does it say how. I've only found out how to remove them if the orginal debt was invalid or if you're an ID Theft victim. I know it's possible, but I just need to know where to look.
