Since most major banks now have branches in many foreign countries, they would still be able to perform collections activities on you. They would probably just have a different accent when they called! No debt collector is going to "chase" you literally, but they can still put credit holds on you no matter where you move to because they are international.
Unless it's a huge sum of money that's impossible for you to pay, why not consider paying it in full or at least engaging in a payment plan with the company?
Your credit which is linked to your SSN, is a "tag" placed on you, and only you can determine whether people reading your tag will get a good impression or a bad one.

I pretty well doubt that you can be chased around the world. But I am sure that if you owe a company that has links in the country that you are going to, you will not have good credit in the new country.

Credit is a mark of character, you can go from country to country - but you can't leave yourself behind. If you don't learn to take care of bills and money, you will always be stuck with problems.

It's possible, but because of international legal barriers they probably won't unless you owe a *lot* of money. Bear in mind, though, that all they have to do is make a plausible case that you might be engaged in money laundering for some criminal activity, and you'll have international law enforcement on you. And that ain't pretty.
