I was called down to the lobby and asked for my car keys by a repo man. I was a little taken by surprise. I was 1 payment behind and called the company who owned my car loan the next day to find out how to get it back. I had to pay a $400 dollar fee for a 2 day storage on the car. I overnight expressed the payment to the loan company and paid them $400 dollars for 2 days worth of storage and for the fee of the car re po man. I drove 50 miles from home to pick up my car and the guy who had my car charged me about $350 dollars for storage on his lot. I thought that is what I paid to the loan company. Was he allowed to do that or was he being a crook trying to scam money because he knew I had it. Is there anywhere to report the guy?

Sure they can, they did it to you. Weather it's legal is another question, in most Sates, you have to be 90-days past due for the lender to send the repo. people and the double charging of storage is most likely not legal. The problem you are going to have is waiting 10-years to report it and having the receipts to prove it even if you get the chance. Most likely the statute of limitations is up and you are stuck. Ask your lawyer.

10 years ago? Sounds like any statuteof limitations is long gone.
I'm betting the loan company didn't follow proper proceedure for notification of repo, so you might have an issue with them and the state banking comission. Storage fees might be regulated, but I doubt it.

They most certainly can do it, there was a girl at my work who had it taken away. You can always contact the better buisness bureau if you felt u were taken advantage of.

I don't think you can report it 10 years later. If there was anything illegal, the statute of limitations has long since run.

report it to the better business bureau but you best have receipts to prove you were double charged.
