Say I have a friend who is a DJ, and I need to reach them in an emergency. If it were another job, I'd just call their office or whatever and reach them directly. Is there a "personal line" at radio stations, other than the request line, to reach the DJ's? On the same subject, would a cell phone work in the recording booths, or is it like a dead zone in there?

She tells me that she is in the process of having her salary attached by the marshals and they have even told her that her apt security deposit is going to be taken. I don't know about these things (thank God) so I am asking the biggest audience that I have access to. What if anything can they do to her? She lives in NYC area. She says it is an old Fingerhut Account that she disputed back in 2004. I told her the account might be too old to collect on, but I can't be sure.
Yes, it is a co-worker, I don't have any old bills, except Ma Bell.

The first was with the HR recruiter, second with the woman who would be my direct supervisor and the third was to go in and shadow 2 people in the department. Before the 3rd the recruiter told me she was going to begin conducting my background checks and that they were looking to move fairly quickly. When I left this last time I was not given any indication as to what the next steps were or when they would be making a decision as the girl who I was shadowing was the one to walk me out. How long should I wait before following up?

How long are you required to keep medical documents before they can be destroyed. No X-rays... just paper documents, bills, charts, etc. Please give links to this info if you have it.

I recently got this summer job as an office assistant. I feel out of place there and I don't know if I'm meeting their crazy needs anyway. It pays $11 an hour, but every morning before work I think about quitting. Then once I get there I'm like...this isn't so bad. I'm stuck, and can't make up my mind. I'd rather be doing film/video work, which doesn't have as steady pay, but I could be making a foolish decision leaving.

I just go offered a job that pays about $2.50 more than what I make now. & I get a nice work space and a desk and a lot of perks. (so I'm told) But here's the problem, I've been working at my current job for a year and a half & I just got promoted to Manager at and I feel that I shouldnt just leave this company cuz a good rep is hard to get and a easy to lose! And this town is so small and everyone knows everybody! Population 2000! I figured I gonna stay here at least 2 years to get more experiene as a manager and then seek better employment so I could have a fighting chance! So the question still remains what do you think you would do in this situation?

I have about an hour and a half left from work and there isn't anything to do. My supervisor isn't around and one of my superiors told me to just go home. But I still don't want to because these people might still need my help.

I applied for a job at a retail store and was called for an interview last Wednesday. They seemed to really like me and spoke to me as if they were going to hire me. They told me all the benefits, the job description, how many hours I should expect, what uniform I would wear...etc etc etc.

They just requested that I provide them with references, which I did. They did indeed contact these references 2 days ago.

So it's been 5 days since the interview and 2 days since they contacted the references.

Do I still have hope of them calling me back for a job offer? Should I stop waiting? Is there something else they could be waiting for? How long should I wait before giving up?

Just had a job interview and I like to send in a thank you letter. Should it be a blank thank you card personalized and hand written or just a plain letter typed and thanking the hiring team?

Sadly I only remember the HR lady's name but during the interview process of 3 people, I remember one, sort of remember the other but completely forgot the third and no, they didn't offer me their business card :(

Should I just adress the thank you card/letter to the "hiring team" ?

Thank you, your advice is much appreciated!

I see people in both my jobs coming in jeans sandals and expect to get the job. One argument is well they don’t have nicer clothes but you need them if you get the job to come to work. You don’t get a paycheck then go shopping before work. Another is they should take me on my qualifications. Bull you need to dress like everyone in the company sry to say but appearance matter as do first impressions. So what could be another excuse for looking like a slob at an interview

I worked at a company for two months and then left. Within these two months, I was never trained or learned anything I was suppose to do. This is was one of the top reasons why I left. I felt I was told something else to accept the job, and through the grapevine, I find out the position I took has a high rotational right. So basically I sat around for two months while waiting for someone to be trained.

Should I list this job on my resume because actually I didnt do anything the job entailed. I feel like if I do I might get alot of questions because of the timeframe, and if I dont list it, I feel like it might pop up later.

Help!!!

Say I work in outside sales for one company, but I am thinking of possibly leaving for a career advancement opportunity in sales management with a direct competitor. If I give two weeks notice, and they ask me to leave right away instead of fulfilling the two weeks notice that I gave them, then are they legally required to pay me for those two weeks? I welcome all responses by any lawyers reading this. Thanks!

I graduated university almost 2 years ago, and have been working at crappy, boring (oh so boring) jobs since then. I now know what I want to do - (be a professional writer - not necessarily creative, but I want to work with words for sure), but REALLY am not ready to go back to being a starving student (especially now that I am getting older and am liking having real paychecks!).

So what would you do? Go back to school and suck it up for a chance at career-happiness? Or suck it up at jobs I can't stand and slowly find my way in the writing world unguided?

p.s. I live with my fiancee and we'll likely be getting married soon. He doesn't make enough to support us both.

thanks!
