The first was with the HR recruiter, second with the woman who would be my direct supervisor and the third was to go in and shadow 2 people in the department. Before the 3rd the recruiter told me she was going to begin conducting my background checks and that they were looking to move fairly quickly. When I left this last time I was not given any indication as to what the next steps were or when they would be making a decision as the girl who I was shadowing was the one to walk me out. How long should I wait before following up?

The recruiter is within the company itself. As for the background check I was told it was standard procedure.

Wait about 1 week and then call to follow up. If they don't respond, try e-mailing them. Good Luck!

Hi, I'm in HR. First I can't tell how long you've waited since you had your last "interview." I would email the recruiter a thank you and tell her you enjoyed your day, seeing how the department ran. If you haven't already, they are waiting for this. You should tell her again how interested you are in the position and let her know you hope to hear from her soon. This will spur her to reply to you and let you know how things are going or if you got the job. You can follow up immediately in the guise of a thank you, reiterating that you want the job. She should reply quickly to that, when they do make a decision. But remember, there are all kinds of internal things that have to happen to make a hire. There are finance and HR forms and procedures and any one of them can get held up. So don't panic if it's longer than she intimated. Good Luck.

I dont know what position you are talking about but its nice to follow after one week.

Tip for next time: Always ask the question " When should I expect to hear from you?"

As per the background check thing.....its hard to say cause some companies may do it by defaul but in general its a positive sign. Best of luck!!!!!

I would wait a week & then call the recruiter and ask what the next step will be.

the recruiter who told you they want to move quickly, she is with the company or a headhunter?

i think you can call the recruiter adn ask what the next steps are. you don't have to wait since this is your third visit to them.
