She tells me that she is in the process of having her salary attached by the marshals and they have even told her that her apt security deposit is going to be taken. I don't know about these things (thank God) so I am asking the biggest audience that I have access to. What if anything can they do to her? She lives in NYC area. She says it is an old Fingerhut Account that she disputed back in 2004. I told her the account might be too old to collect on, but I can't be sure.
Yes, it is a co-worker, I don't have any old bills, except Ma Bell.

that statute of limitations on old bills in 7 years...in most states...so, they can still collect on her, unfortunately...I have never heard of them taking a damage deposit! That is just savage! Most people need thier damage deposit back to get another place...I would advise her to see a lawyer or community advocate...

New York's SOL is ten years, so they can collect.
