I just go offered a job that pays about $2.50 more than what I make now. & I get a nice work space and a desk and a lot of perks. (so I'm told) But here's the problem, I've been working at my current job for a year and a half & I just got promoted to Manager at and I feel that I shouldnt just leave this company cuz a good rep is hard to get and a easy to lose! And this town is so small and everyone knows everybody! Population 2000! I figured I gonna stay here at least 2 years to get more experiene as a manager and then seek better employment so I could have a fighting chance! So the question still remains what do you think you would do in this situation?

At the end of the day, you have to do what's best for you and your future. I don't think that we can tell you how to manage your career. :) If the better paying job is better suited for you, then take it. You won't lose your reputation. No one can speak badly of you for making a better life for yourself. I hope you've found the answer that you were looking for. :) Good luck!

The truth is that there are a lot more good jobs than bad jobs.

The reason is that people don't stay in bad jobs, so they are often available.

Which means if you like your current job then it is better to stay in it than take the risk of going somewhere that may or not be good.

Also management experience can really help you later. Often getting that management promotion takes some time, so you I would stay in the job and not move.

You can talk to your current employer to see if they would be prepared to offer you a pay rise or better working conditions. The worst that can happen is that you get fired and you go and start the new job.

In the book of the Samuri it is written a decision should be made it the space of 7 breaths. That is, sit down somewhere quiet, take 7 deeep breaths and just do what you feel. This really works for these types of decisions, what you want to do will come clearly to you.

I would stay where you are now. $2.50 and a couple of pointless perks are not a very good selling point! Right now, you're a manager and held in high regard. The longer you stay with your current company, the better references you will get for the future. Experience is more SO MUCH more valuable than $2.50!

Discuss your impending deprture with your superiors. Don't make it sound like a leverage threat. But still... maybe if they knew you are planning to leave, they will "sweeten the pot" so you'll stay. Just a thought. It's worth a try if you like it where you're at, and money is the real reason for the move.

The difference in salary is not great so your main consideration should be 'personal contentment'. If you can say this about the present job then i would say, stay with them.
