I recently got this summer job as an office assistant. I feel out of place there and I don't know if I'm meeting their crazy needs anyway. It pays $11 an hour, but every morning before work I think about quitting. Then once I get there I'm like...this isn't so bad. I'm stuck, and can't make up my mind. I'd rather be doing film/video work, which doesn't have as steady pay, but I could be making a foolish decision leaving.

2 ways to look at it:
1) Think about what you would do if you didn't need money. Now, look into doing that, but see if you can get paid for it. Then you'll look forward to your job everyday.

2) Hey - that's why they call it "work". Suck it up, get your butt in there, don't be a lazy slob and EARN a living!

If you are under 23, and this job is only for the summer, then it seems like a good way to earn some cash. Feeling out of place when you start work is very common. Maybe once some folks become familiar to you, you'll feel less unsure about going to work each day. Could you find a position in film/video work? Put out some feelers and see what's out there. But I'd suggest keeping the job you have until you know what your options are. It's hard to ride out the early days of a job, but afterwards, you might find there are reasons to get up and go to work each day.

Well, do the positives outweight the negatives? On the plus side, you have a steady income and can learn a few new skills. There are always good things that come out of bad experiences. You can hang in there for now and see if this job gets better for you. Just make the the most of it and keep yourself well informed of film/video opportuntites.

Think about it for a while. There's no reason to stay if you're miserable there. Is the actual work even that bad? Then again, if you don't pursue your dreams, what can be said of your character? The last thing I would consider is, does this job give me the financial means to pursue my dreams?

All things considered, I ultimately quit my last job because of its high stress level. I didn't deserve that much, so I gathered up the courage and left it for a better one. I love my current job. :) So, take a chance if you feel the rewards will be great.

Stick with it - it's only for the summer, and it will be a good character building exercise. Besides, it's not like it's tough manual labor. You're inside an air conditioned office. Check out the nice bottoms on the secretaries - maybe that will encourage you to stay.

Don't quit. I get too every morning. It is just an attitude part of it. Ask yourself, why is it so bad??

When I used to work at this tech support, I told my friend, I hate the job and you know what he said "why is it so bad?". I couldn't even answer him. I knew then it was just my mind kept thinking the job is bad.

why do u want to quit before getting there then suddenly have a change of heart. im sure its not the career u saw urself doing but its keeping money in ur pocket and paying the bills, stay there until you can secure a job in the field you desire no use quitti ng a paying job when u have nothgint o transition into.

If you are still in school and are planning on having a career in film/video, I would look for something in that field and then give notice to the company you are with now.
You have to be happy in your job.
