Usually they'll ask you specific questions about your experience..."how long have you worked in retail," "how much do you know about retail," "do you think you're good with working with people," "what kind of hours can you work."
They also might ask you some non-job related questions just to get a feel for your personality and how you'd react to different situations. They probably will just ask about general things like if you're from that area or are new to the area, why you are choosing retail for a job. They'll probably look to see if you're friendly, helpful, and outgoing. Plus they might want to know how comfortable you are handling cash or credit transactions and how you'd deal with complaints from a customer. They make ask how well you work under pressure too because retail can have a lot of pressure!

They will ask about prior retail experience, your customer service skills, if you can work a cash register, etc. Think about how you like to be treated when you shop and then apply the best of that treatment to how you would serve someone who IS shopping in your store!

What is the procedure when there is a technical or software problem? Will I be required to install subject specific software? Will I receive training on subject specific software? What is the procedure when I find a pupil abusing the equipment/accessing unsuitable websites? Will I be required to supervise a 'drop in' facility for students to use the room without a teacher present?

I was asked as to why should the company hire me.
I was also asked to describe myself as well as my weaknesses and strenghts especially when dealing with people.
During job interviews, you have to look the interviewer directly into his eyes to show that you're confident and interested.

Have you worked with the public before? Have you handled cash? What kind of experience do you have? Can you work flexible hours? Why should they hire you? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Give a situation how you handled stress well.

Here's my favorite.
How do you handle a customer who is very upset over a defective product?
The responses were varied, but what would blow your chances of getting the would be telling the customer off.

well for starters they could ask:
1.Why are you applying for this particular job?
2.What are your interests?
3.How much experience do you have in the retail side?
