I have about an hour and a half left from work and there isn't anything to do. My supervisor isn't around and one of my superiors told me to just go home. But I still don't want to because these people might still need my help.

You are lucky to have an hour and half left at work. Either this job is not chanllenging enough for you or you are not trying to find something to do.
If it happens too often, you better find more changllenging projects or tasks from your supervisor and keep you busy.
Honestly, it is up to you. Some companies do not require you work for 8 hours, like 'Best Buy'. When you finish your work, you can go home.
However, most of jobs like that will expect you to be a self-starter, with little supervision, and most of them, have lots of work to do that you might have to bring your work home sometimes.

sweep the floor clean the coffee maker ,load up all the staple guns....there is ALWAYS something to do.
