Styles change rapidly; before, the resume was supposed to be only one page; now some advocate up to 3 pages.
No matter what, some prospective employers will like it, some will not. Even Microsoft work has formats. Employment agencies (state or private) should also be able to help you.

There are plenty of good websites that will aid you in making a resume.
Some basic info: there are different strategies for different levels of experience, how your experience relates to the job, what your education level has been, etc.

Microsoft publisher has a template. All you have to do is type in the info.
