I have a business degree, and I'm working in my field, but I like to write. In fact, English was always my best subject. I think it would be fun to write a book of some kind.

The last job I had was for a placement over 3 years ago, the guy I used to work for/with is no longer there. I'm not a member of any professional organizations or churches and I don't really know anyone here except family. I have been in school and need a job for the summer (i.e. asap) to save up for next year.

May 2nd will be my 2 years at the same company. I got 1 raise of 12% over a year ago and thats it. Today (April 28th) I got a letter saying they are increasing my rent by $50. So, since I was going to ask for a raise anyways, should I tell my boss that Ill be paying even more out now as if the raise should compensate that? In Orange County, CA there isn't much here cheaper then $820 a month so moving somewhere cheaper wouldn't make sense. I just would like some advice on how to approach him about more money and my new rent issues.

He was divorced in another county. I have asked him about his divorce settlement but he never says anything except he will support his kids til they graduate college and his ex will not get any part of his railroad retirement.
Sometimes I wonder if he is telling me the truth. Am I crazy to wonder or should I just let it go and risk ending up supporting him in our old age? Do railroaders retire well or are they dirt poor. He keeps me pretty much in the dark. I am suspicious because of my own retirement and age. I am a lot younger.

With so little jobs, how do they pay the bills? I can understand why more people are moving to the big city because of the many jobs to work from but dont understand how people manage to live in small rural towns.

I have never lived in a small rural town in my life so please help me understand this.

I work at Ikea and I absolutely loathe it. They treat the customers like royalty and the staff like ****

You can get a warning for the least thing. Holiday forms are turned away and you are given no reason. If you complain you just get told its `The needs of the business` which is very patronising.

Does anyone actually like their work?
