Hi everyone-
I work for a media company where my boss is completely awful and treats me like her slave. I used to enjoy the job and hate her but she's made it so that I dont even enjoy my job anymore.
I always wanted to go to law school but it always intimidatedme -both the hard work and the money aspect of it.
I have been waiting for the perfect time to quit as we are pretty busy almost all year round.
Right now would be the perfect time to quit- But should I?
I dont have another job lined up though ideally I'd like to get a job at a law firm to get law experience. I am going to take the LSAT soon and hopefully go to law school next fall.
I guess I'm scared to quit and wind up jobless forever.
I would appreciate everyone's opinions.
Thank you!

Hi, I am a Latin America lawyer and two weeks ago I had a phone job interview with the HR Director for a position as a legal assistant for the company’s clients in Latin America. We talked about my professional experience, salary, benefits and relocation expectations. Well, my professional experience was praised by the interviewer, my salary expectation was market rate, the benefits were fixed the same for every employer, but because I am at the moment based in South America I was asked about my relocation expectations and I proposed the documentation necessary to take the work permit visa and some help to search an apartment. Next day I sent a thank you email but still had no answer. The position is still avaiable at the company’s site. The question is how should I follow up this job because no deadline was fixed at the interview.

Managers: Has anybody ever worked in an environment where everytime something happens, its percieved as discrimination (assuming it truly isnt, if it was it would most certainly not be tolerated)? I want my employees to come to me if/and when real discrimination occurs, but when every action is looked upon that way - it blurs the lines of what is and is not legitimate. How do you set the balance of being open to addressing real issues while squashing the "wolf crying"?

Do you work for someone whom is a pain? maybe they expect a lot from you and you cant say anything because they are either a client or manager or customer or.
what if you could get away with it once, what would you say to them and why? do you have a story to tell what happen and why? and what did you say to that person? Many years ago, I once worked for a cleaning company and this manager did not like me because I was not a 'dolly bird!' He made life difficult for me.
So I told a manager to stick his job (rather rudely!!) but I was not worried because I had a job to go to. The satisfaction of telling him what I thought of him was priceless!!

I have an associates degree. However, the interviewers want to know why I earned my associates degree in liberal arts and didn't go to a 4 year college to earn my bachelors degree. So, am I missing something? Is it necessary to have a bachelors degree and experience or just experience? I thought the employers don't look at education

I am in a 50/50 S corp partnership...I have found pot and other substances in an office closet, which he admitted to. he has taken items out of the office and sold them for his own gain. His sales have dropped tremendously, does not show up very often and is just plain lazy. I have talked to him about this, but he just shrugs his shoulders and says he will pick up the pace, which has not happened. Is there anything that can be done? or do I just have to do deal with it in order to keep the coming growing?

Thanks.

I had no daycare my six week maternity leave was up after having my daughter, so I had missed several days of work. My boss had one of the girls from the office call and tell me I was fired. I tried calling him to confirm and he would not answer. When I filed for unemployment he denied my claim and said he never fired me. I tried having the girl go before the unemployment committee to verify this, but she didn't want to loose her job over it. I still have not returned to work due to no daycare and he still has not called me personally to fire me, yet has told numerous people that I was terminated. How do I file unemployment?

I have been working in my job for 4 years and in the begining everything was hunky dorey with my boss. We talked not only on work issues, but on a personal level like co-workers would and then all of a sudden he got all cold and quiet and really kind-of bitchy acting. I know I didn't do anything wrong because he did the same thing to another female employee. They rarely ever talk, unless it is crucial to get a job done. I just feel like he is being so unprofessional. I do all my work and meet all my deadlines, but nothing seems good enough. Does anyone have advice???

There is a position open in my work place. When the girl that has the job is out of the office, I feel the job. She has the degree and I do not. She will be out of the office starting in June and will not be back until December. My boss wants to me to fill the position because I know how to do the job and they won't have to train anyone else. When the president of the company found out about this he was upset because I didn't have a college degree. I start school in July. The thing that upsets me is that I already do the job when she is out and now he is making a big deal of it. Please help. I need to understand this.
