I was laid off 2 years ago, went to work for a friend, (bad move)
and got fired.
I have over 25 years exp. in my field, always had good jobs.
I have had promising interviews but no offers. One person called me on the phone, we talked, she said she'd call me the next day after she had a better look at my resume. Never heard from her.
I think my prev. boss has something to do with it.
If I don't put that job on my resume, how do I explain almost 2 years of unemployment?

I work in a fairly large office. I am very quiet and come to work to do my work and not socialize all day long like others do. I work through my lunch at times (get paid for it) and often work past 5:00 p.m. The bosses seem to talk to the people who socialize all day long rather than do their work. I am not jealous but am baffled by this. Do you think they ignore me because they know their work is getting done or are they just plain afraid of me?

I started my current job a few months back. My boss asked me to try to have more professional attire. What is considered professional for a secretary type of position? I know no Jeans or rips clothing or things like that. But I need help finding "professional" clothing on a small budget.

As a manager, I have struggled with one particular employee since the middle of Dec. Last week we sat down and she told me she didn't have a problem with anyone else but me. I asked her if she had any solutions because I had tried everything I could to make it a comfortable work environment. Yesterday (monday) she put in her two week notice. (YAY!) I told her that we would accomadate her if she wanted to go ahead and start her new job. She was not obligated to do the two weeks. So tomorrow is her last day. Do I take her out to lunch or just wish her good luck on her way out the door? It's a situation where I do not enjoy being around her. Lots of friction ever since I told her that I thought it was rude for her to wear her hat to the table when we ate together.
