Go to the local recruitment agencies - there should be loads in Glasgow -OK I know not everyone is a fan but they have jobs available always usually if you don't mind what you do! Check out the usual job sites - monster, etc, and also leaf through the local papers. It's definitely worth having a walk up and down through town and checking out shop windows for adverts for staff in shops etc or actually on the noticeboards of newsagents etc - they often advertise. Hope your friend gets a job soon!

Start a business for free that will set you up for life - I recommend Forever Living Products - you can do as many or as few hours as you like and typically on 1-2 hours a day you will earn £1200 per month after 5 months and £30-£40k per year after 2-3 years - if you do more hours you should get more.
They are a $2 billion company growing at 25% per year and need a lot more people - no investment required also, regulated by Dti and Office of Fair trading and have investors in people award also.

Has she asked at the University (if she is a Uni student, you didnt say) ?? Most of them have a job shop. Anotehr idea is to go to shops/bars/cafes/restaurants personally with a CV and ask as alot of places do employ that way rather than advertising as it shows inicative.
Best of luck to your friend

Try www.firstdirect.com they have a jobs section on there and are usually recruiting for their call centre in Hamilton. They are 24-7 and offer a variety of shifts full and part time. They're also a great company to work for... (Used to work for them in Leeds)

Have a look in all the local free papers and put her cv online as most the recruitment agencies trawl the websites for prospective applicants

tell her to try Asda, they are very accommodating towards students and arrange shifts to suit studies. A friend of mine worked at the local Asda for 3 years while he studied Law and according to him he wouldn't have been able without their help and support.

Call at all the Supermarkets, they are your best bet for a job, on the checkouts or stacking shelves.
