ever since i left uni, i have worked for myself, and been quite successful. Is there any chance that an employer will give me a job now that i'm 30? will they see me as a threat, i.e. a spy or some one who wants to learn a new business?

My niece and I have both come to the same conclusion....we're both lousy interviewers, but good workers. The problem is, we cant get hired anywhere to prove that we're good workers, because we always blow the interview. How do you have a good interview? What are some tips/advice?

Ok, I'm 23 and i've been working since I was 16 and never had a problem with working. I left my job at blockbuster after 4 1/2 years there because of a death in my family to be more specific my Father Died aka my best friend. The company wouldn't give me the time i needed to help my family with the arrangement and to cope with my lose, I asked for a reasonable amount of time off a week 1/2, well thats my opinion anyways. I was there top seller and never missed work even when i was held by gun point one night of closing, i got really upset so I felt at the time that I had no choise but to quit. Completely out my of charecter, but that's what happend.
Well it's time to go back to work because the bills are racking up and I feel like a free loader to my boyfriend, Whose been nothing but great to me. I've been out of work for about 7months! It's really embarresing to say. I feel like such a looser. I'm so scared to go back to work< Whats wrong with me? ThankGod 4ebay to help with money.

I just started a new job today, and at my interview I told my boss I would need a week off in the upcoming month, and another day off for a class trip. I got the date of the trip today, but have yet to get the dates for the week I will need off (I am being a counselor at a camp through my school). Should I wait and tell her both at once, or should I go ahead and give her the one day I need off?

I hate seeming demanding, but I have already made a commitment. Should I call her after work, write her a note, or tell her in person?

This is my first job ever so I am not familiar with this type of thing yet.

I am applying for an internship and it requires me to write a resume. I have an outline on Pages (Mac's version of Word) but it isn't the right kind for me. It calls for what I expect from my job, and what I want to be doing, along with a bunch of other things I can't fill out.

Can you give me an example of what I should put on my resume? I am only 16 and I am applying for an internship in the education field through my high school.

I am considering changing careers. I am working in the Pharmaceutical industry, however, I do not feel as though I am in the right place. I have a Business degree but not sure what options I have other than Accounting. I would like to know what careers as an Accountant to Buyer is like.

I graduated from college 8 years ago and have already settled. I have a home and student loans so it would be difficult for me to start all over from the bottom again. I would also like to get some advice on how to change careers successfully. Can anyone give me advice on changing careers?

I have worked as an electronics engineer for a UK/US defence engineering company for the last 3 years. The company was only set up in the UK so that our only product could be manufactured in the UK and thus meet the contractual requirements of the MOD.

The majority of the senior managers are ex-military and are completely unequipped to deal with the real world. Sadly, my manager is one of these. His response to any issue to to swear and storm around, he always needs to be an alpha male. I've never worked for such a disorganised and uncaring company and I desperately want to leave.....

So I got another job.

The problem is that I need to leave within the next 6 weeks and my notice period is 2 calendar months. The other company are great but can't be flexible. They want me and I want to work for them so how do I get out of my contract early?

I've got 6 days holiday left but my manager said he will not let me take it. Even if he did I need another 5 days. Please help!

I had some really good answers last time I asked this, but need some more questions to ask at interviews. Trying to really understand people's character, how they fit in with our team, how well they work with / like kids, organizational and leadership capabilities, etc.
Thanks!!!!!

I recently resigned a nine year position with my former company due to relocation. I planned to take six months off before beginning a new job. However, after just a few weeks I became bored and wanted to get back to work. I have an interview on Thursday for a job that would be idea for me and I really want the position. Because I was planning to be off during July I made a financial committment for a vacation which would require me to miss 2 days (Thursday and Friday). Now I don't know what to do. Should I tell them at the interview that I'll need the time off? Should I ask them only if they offer me the job? Should I just cancel my vacation plans if they offer me the job? The only reason I don't want to cancel is that I don't want to disappoint my nephew with whom I am very close and miss since I've relocated.

I am a firm believer that you can do anything you put your mind to. Lately, however, I have been feeling less than motivated. Does anyone have any success stories? I need some inspiration. The longer, the better...also, stories of hitting rock bottom...

Ever been for a job interview and they interview you in reception which looks clean & tidy but when you start the job the factory looks like a sh** hole and not what you thought the company would be like.

Due to the volume on applications they dont want to show you around due to "time factor" problems
