I am applying for an internship and it requires me to write a resume. I have an outline on Pages (Mac's version of Word) but it isn't the right kind for me. It calls for what I expect from my job, and what I want to be doing, along with a bunch of other things I can't fill out.

Can you give me an example of what I should put on my resume? I am only 16 and I am applying for an internship in the education field through my high school.

I don't have time to go out and do a lot of things right now. This is due in a week.

I have enough volunteer experience, and working with children. I just need a resume format that would fit this situation.

I may have found one, but I am clueless about the Profile part.

Browse the University of Missouri Career Center.
There's a spot named "Gain Experience". Try it.

If you are applying for a specific internship, you should be able to complete what you expect from it and want to be doing based on what the internship is. A generic "I love working with kids" resume may not get you this internship.

THINK about what you are applying for! What is the internship about? What will the intern be doing every day?

Depending on the grade level of the students, an intern "in the education field" could be:

* assisting the teacher with lessons
* reading to some of the students or to the whole class
* doing demonstrations
* grading tests
* giving individual students one-on-one help
* making copies of material
* maintaining order on a bus, in the hallways, in the classroom, etc.
* answering e-mail
* etc.

Have you done any of those things in your volunteering and working with children? If not, WHAT have you done when you were working with kids? Put that on your resume.

About.com has help for people doing resumes for internships, and perhaps you can find inspiration or a model there - http://internships.about.com/od/applications/a/internresume.htm

This is part of being more grown-up. This is why it is called WORK - you have to take the time and extend some effort. If you don't have the time to do this right, don't bother. OR, put some thought and effort into it, and learn something about how the real world operates. You'll be ahead of many of your peers, if you do. Go for it!!

Try finding library with computer that might have Word 98 second edition. The resume template is most user friendly found that isn't resume program by this person.

I've had to write up my own resume a few times and eventually decided to do it all online -- check out Monster or cvitae.org..

Do you have any babysitting experience, volunteer experience working with children, etc? If so, list it on your resume.
