Unfortunately there is no one person who led to this happening. Looking back in history, I believe the major event for incorporating women into the traditionally male workforce was World War II. This was a costly war that took many of the young working age men overseas and opened the door for women to step in out of necessity. Women showed that they could handle the "male" jobs in factories. After this the women's liberation movement started and there were a great number of people involved to bring women to the point they are at today.

Hi Mandy, Can not help you with a name but Here in my home Country of New Zealand was the first place in the world to give the woman the right to vote.

Late 1800s was the time and slowly but surely the rest of the western world as we know it followed suit.

Do A search on a lady called Kate Shepard. She was the front woman at the time.

As a foot note we kiwis who don't fly actually flew before the Wright brothers.

First to see the sun each day as well. Only bummer with that is we are first to bed as well.

All the best to you and i hope this helps you some.
