Ok, I'm 23 and i've been working since I was 16 and never had a problem with working. I left my job at blockbuster after 4 1/2 years there because of a death in my family to be more specific my Father Died aka my best friend. The company wouldn't give me the time i needed to help my family with the arrangement and to cope with my lose, I asked for a reasonable amount of time off a week 1/2, well thats my opinion anyways. I was there top seller and never missed work even when i was held by gun point one night of closing, i got really upset so I felt at the time that I had no choise but to quit. Completely out my of charecter, but that's what happend.
Well it's time to go back to work because the bills are racking up and I feel like a free loader to my boyfriend, Whose been nothing but great to me. I've been out of work for about 7months! It's really embarresing to say. I feel like such a looser. I'm so scared to go back to work< Whats wrong with me? ThankGod 4ebay to help with money.

if you've been experiencing anxiety you might have agoraphobia.I'm in almost the exact same situation as you and have been out of work for 8 months now.i went to the doctor and found i have panic disorder which is keeping me from working.i hate it. dont know if that is your problem but if you have felt anxious alot you might want to look into it. good luck http://psychology.about.com/b/a/227860.htm

My guess is that the death of your father made you feel like nothing in life is ever going to be the same. No it won't be the same but it WILL be OK. You are just worried about starting something new after a very difficult time. Push yourself to look for a job. You will feel so much better about yourself once you have an income again. You were very good to them at Blockbuster and you will be a great employee anywhere you get a job. Good luck in your search. Something new will be good for you.

It sounds like you were comfortable there after working there so long. You were loyal and reliable for them, but when you needed help from them, they let you down.

Now, you have to start all over. It's normal to feel nervous when starting a new job. But it sounds like it is for the best anyway. I hardly think that a week or two off is not too much to ask for the death of your dad.

There are plenty of places out there who would love to have someone loyal and reliable and who would also be willing to work with you when a crisis arises.

Just keep in mind, everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was time for you to move on to bigger and better things anyway.

Good luck, and my condolences on the loss of your father.

Don't be scared! Once you start working again it will be like nothing. Are you able to go back to Blockbuster or are you looking for another job? If you are looking for another job, explain the gap of employment was due to a death in the family. Once you get over the "initial hump" of starting work again, you will feel just fine...and you will feel relieved that money is coming in.

first of all i am very sorry to hear of your loss.i believe your employer did the wrong thing by you for sure, goes to show how heartless some people can be.but as for going back to work i really thing it is exactly what you need to go forward, the more your at home the more time you have to think and sometimes this can have an adverse effect.if i were you I'd hold my head high and go for anything that is available.I'm sure this will get you back to where you were before all this happened.believe me your nothing like a looser, you did what you thought was he best thing to do at the time.go get em girl.
