Leave, be free, fly! The worst that can happen is that they sack you! The other thing not really applicable to you is that they will probably not re-employ you - very sad!

You are under no legal obligation to work your notice period - it is only a courtesy.
If you walk out your company will still have to pay you for the days you have worked.
If you didn't turn up the worst they could do is sack you for non attendance but you wouldn't be there anyway so why care?
It would be good to write a letter to the HR department of your current employer informing them of your resignation and telling them the last day that you will be working.
If they don't like it, tough.

I feel for you. I really do.
I've worked for companies like this before.../sigh.
Well, here's what I say. Can they throw you in jail if you leave under your notice period? No? Then go. Screw them. You've given them good service and in return they let you be managed by pricks. I say bail. The only downside is that you'll prolly not get a good reference from them. But considering your boss will not let you take vacation time that is rightfully yours, I doubt they're the kind of people that would've give you a good review anyway. Military's never happy anyway, hell, a lot of them are "socially retarded". Sounds like your boss is.
I say QUIT. Hell, if you can afford it, quit now and take the next month to "Decompress" from this last job before starting this next job.
I highly doubt your current employer would give you 2 months notice if they were going to fire you, so why should you give them 2 months notice when you're leaving?
Good luck to you! I hope you like your new job.

If you leave before your notice period is up, the employer you are leaving can withold any money that is owed to since the last pay day AND ask for some of the money paid to you previously back as well.

The length of your be conscious is thoroughly as much as you. that is quite rediculas to your present organization to assume you to grant 2 complete months' be conscious for the rationalization you have purely stated: No new activity is going to be that versatile. the only element you face via leaving early is which you're able to have a foul reference on your resume. on the different hand, maximum employers as a rule seem on the final activity you have held... so in case you depart your new activity on stable words, you have little to fret approximately. it is assuming you're taking yet another activity different than your new prospect interior the destiny, of direction; if your new activity is occupation-worth and you come back to a selection to stay placed, none of that is a controversy. additionally, you danger dropping any severance kit you will be entitled to had you observed the regulations of your previous organization. yet 401K plans ought to nevertheless be "rollable," and you should nevertheless have a term to the two purchase or sell any inventory strategies if your previous organization had presented them to you. i might drop a 2 weeks' be conscious on your present organization, and notify your new organization which you will start on the date your be conscious ends. this way, if your present organization comes to a decision to fireside you or enable you to bypass early, you will purely drown for 2 weeks without a earnings earlier commencing your new activity. And 2 weeks quite is sufficient to your previous organization to discover a alternative.

just hand in your notice mate, give them one month. If they mess you around you can take them to the cleaners. Keep a diary of everything just in case you need to see a solicitor.
