There's a lot of different types of careers in the computer field. You could get into the field with an associate degree in the past, but it helps with all the competition for jobs to have a bachelor's degree. Think about what you like to do, you can work with the hardware (troubleshooting, designing, testing) or the software (programming, gaming, designing) or networking (making computers communicate with printers/web servers) or help desk support (answer client questions) or databases (organizing info) or web sites (designing, programming, administering). Here's a link to the US Dept of Labor to check out the job duties, education needed, and job outlook for each of these careers:

The field has lots of ups and downs. It depends on where you live on how many jobs are available and the pay. There's suppose to be a lot of jobs in the future, when the baby boomers retire, and since not many people are majoring in it, since they're scared off by the lay-offs in the field. Pick something you enjoy!

Good luck!
