Why do all public service jobs make so little money?

Is there any job which you are entitled to a weapon and are paid n a large sum of money?

I believe that the people who defend our country and put their lives on the line deserve more than 53k a year.

After i had terminated my job contract, i was sent to "garden leave" during my month notice period. I did not get salary for that and they say it was a mistake of their 3-rd party accounting office and that i will get paid next month.

well employer apologize but say they cant pay me now as this accounting office can do that only next month - i dont believe that as it sounds stupid and seems an excuse to delay the payment. can i do anything ?

One thing that I've never really looked into and would like to know is what the different EMT rankings mean! Some I've seen EMT-Basic, EMT-B, etc.

Does anyone have a resource? Thanks in advanced!

My father owned and operated his own consulting firm from 1993-1999. During Junior High & High School I worked as his Administrative & Clerical Assistant. I spent hours at his office after school and over summer break.

I have been using Excel since I was 12 and was interfacing with clients over the phone at the age of 14 (of course, they had no idea I was so young). Should this work experience, which did help "jump-start" my skills and career, be listed on my resume? I'm afraid that some employers will turn an eyebrow up at a 26-year-old with 14-years experience.

My co-worker has been getting to work late and has been seen socializing with other staff too much. I've heard the buzz around the office that her boss is watching her, I don't know how to tell her without her getting defensive (she's known for that)!

i started work in a bank in aug 06 & was told i wld be on a 6 mnth trial which ends in 2 wks. Was tld i would have one2one meetings with my line manager 2 train for the sales aspect of the job which hasnt happened, ive litterally been left to sink or swim. Theyre now saying theres a chance my trial could be extended as i have not been hitting targets and making progress as i should be. i dont feel i have been supported and trained as i should have been in order to do the job properly but i have done the best with the experience i have. Today we have had hardly any staff so i was working on the counter on my own and i made a mistake... the senior manager took me into the office wagged her finger at me and spoke to me like a naughty school girl... even though i balanced my till with no discrepencies and did 120% of my target sales! Im also begining to wonder if its any coincidence that 3 staff are due back off maternity leave when my trial runs out. how can i deal with this?

I always thought I'd study English: I love literature and analysing it, as well as writing (hopefully my future career!) However, recently I've realised in RS classes that I would love philosophy too. I'm really interested in finding out the truth about things...

Bearing in mind I've already applied to all my universities and got all my offers for English, what should I do? Stick with English or consider Philosophy?

I am looking for a honest data entry or virtual assistant job that I can do on-line from home. Most websites that I have visited either are wanting sales reps and ask for money up front.
Where can I find real work at home jobs ? Located in Canada.

I'm too young to work at stores or resturants, but I need to start saving money. I spent a lot of money around Christmas time. I love to babysit, and have great skill with children, even have a Red Cross Traning Certificate. The problem? Finding children to watch, that live near by. What is the best way to find a family that needs a summer sitter? Thank you!

I recently moved to a new state to take care of my elderly father. Since this is a college town, finding jobs that pay more than 10.00 per hour is hard. I don't have a college degree and I have an 11 year old child. I found a job that is 35 miles away. They are paying me 12.00 per hour. Gas prices in Kansas are around $2.03 per gallon and I drive a Saturn with a 13 gallon tank. I took this job b/c I needed something asap with medical benefits. Now I am have second thoughts. Is this job worth the traveling distance? There is no room for growth here, but it pays my bills. This is my first experience with traveling this far for work. I adverage 30-35 dollars a week in gas. Let me know what you think. Thanks
