I was unemployed for about 2 months before finally getting a job with a pharmacy that distributes medications to long term care facilities such as nursing homes, etc. The boss was friendly during the interview but now that has changed. I should have known that something was up because my interview wasn't really an interview. She offered me the job on the spot! Now that i have this job she has become impatient, demanding and sometimes belittling. There really hasn't been much in the way of training. She throws information at you and then expects you to just absorb it and run with it. I am slowly catching on to what I am expected to do but it no thanks to her. I just carry a spiral note book around with me a nd write down every instruction she gives me. If I am lost on something and I ask her, she gets irritated and she never stands still long enough to get a clear answer. I have only been there a week. Should I keep looking or suck it up and deal with it?

If your company is going out of business and you have a limited amount of time to find a new one, would you accept a job offer from a company that is willing to place you in a well paying position that is out of your field?

This means risking a lot with no guarantee they'll keep you and it also represents wasted time if it doesn't work out.

I am self employed and have recently hired an office assistant. This person has worked well in the position and the hours are flexible. Lately I have seen my assistant not coming in or calling me back. The last instant was for this person to start at 9:00 AM and did not bother showing up or calling, sent an e-mail an hour and half later.... and after kept pushing the days when I would them come in again. I believe I am being taken advantage of? Should I get rid of this person even though they do a good job when they actually do show up?

I was offered several different jobs and I could only choose one so i had to turn down the other offers. Will me turning down these other offers prevent me from being hired there in the future? I know of businesses that will black list you if you quit without giving a 2 week notice but can rejecting a job offer black list you too?

Well.. I've got a very promising Interview on thursday and I have a feeling I will get the job..my problem is..I've been at my current job for 3 years and like it here and am scared about leaving them. This new job pays better, is closer to home, and has benefits and room for me to grow with the company. The job I have now has no benefits, I've gone about as far as I can go. How do I tell them I am leaving?
Thanks for all the help..

The hourly rate in New Mexico is higher than Illinois, for the same company due to the lower minimum wage in Illinois. After transfering stores, my hourly rate in the system was the same as the New Mexico rate, which my store manager was aware of. So I was being paid $9.50 an hour, opposed to $7.80 an hour that Illinois workers are at.

After corporate did an audit 6 months after I had been working at the new location in Illinois, they docked my pay for overpaying me for the time I spent in Illinois at the New Mexico rate.

Is this legal? If not, please provide a legal explanation. Emphasis on Illinois state law, if its not a federal one.

A colleague has a bit of a problem and I was just wondering where she stands on it.
Basically - she had booked 4 days off last week as holiday, but ended up taking the whole week off sick.
Her boss is now saying she still has to count those 4 days as holiday and not sick leave.
Is that right?

Im 22 years old only have a job that pays 50$ a month, yes that is right 50 dollars a month. I have applied to jobs all over, made phone calls back had a few interviews, NO LUCK. I am good with children and animals, so maybe I could be a baby sitter, but I may be too old for that? If I had made enough money can someone like me live in an appartment on my own? I have no college experiance and do not have the money for college, so its not exactly an option. What can I do? I need to move out, I don't want to live here forever, and I want to be able to provide a safe place for my girlfriend to go to.. wether she does go to a group home, or stays home, I want her to live with me someday. Any suggestions? And don't give me those work at home scams please.. I don't believe in them. I almost had became so desperate that I wanted to go on social security however my father said you cannot go on it for ADHD.. so that is out of the question

I graduated in May 2006 with a degree in English. My plan was to work for a year and then go to graduate school.
I have tried applying for lots of "McJobs," since I don't have much work experience. I tried getting into the service (no luck), CNA programs, and more. I had a crummy customer service job for one month, and was let go (I admit, I was horrible at it). It's now been nearly two months since that happened, and I'm getting depressed.
What can I do? I have no form of transportation. I love dogs and arts and crafts, and libraries. I have no money. Graduate school is not an option. Getting an associate's degree isn't either.
A lot of the places where I live won't hire people who have B.A. degrees for jobs in fast food places and such since it's an economically depressed area. I tried a temp agency, and that didn't work either. I would like to consider opening a business where I crochet things for people or dog-sit, but I know nothing about running a business.
