I'm 15, and I have recently applied to do work experience at a funeral directors as it does seem very interesting. I think they will respect you for wanting to take up a career like this. Also they won't exactly think you're wierd in any form, as they them selves will be sharing this interest in career. Just be confident, approach them to ask about the type of work that goes on, and what would be best suited for you, preferably do part time work there if you need to do any training. It's useful to go to a career advisor for example 'Links' which can tell you exactly what will come next, where you will need to go, leaving you alot of options and helping you with this chosen career path.

Goodluck!

You need to go and talk to them. They may ask you do you have in mortician degrees or certification. They may train you in funeral services... But there may be some state certification you need to do certain services.

The funeral business is BIG business. No it is not morbid. Just call or stop by and make an appointment to talk to the directors and ask a few questions.

If this is of interest to you...then you should look into it.. Go to school and learn and then make it happen. You can intern at a local funeral home while in school...that way you will be putting into action the things you are learning.

Make some apts.. see what they do.. Make sure they are able to talk to you.. You can do it..best wishes!

This requires a degree in mortuary science to embalm or make the fuenral arrangements, however you can be an assistant, possibly driving vehicles, running flowers, assisting during the funeral and helping with jobs around the funeral home. But if your ambition is to embalm or meet with the families, you have to be licensed. If you go to www.mortuaryschools.com, it gives a listing of every school in the US. Good luck!

Funeral directors are running a business too. Infact when my dad died, my mom had to pay it all upfront for his cremation. So, standard practice. To the thumbs down, my father's death made my mother a single parent of 4 kids under 14 yrs old. No job and no insurance on my father. She came up with the money; so cab this person.

Go on to the job centre website and do a search through its normally listed under funeral advisers. I know in my area the funeral directors ask for a full driving license. You must be available 24hours. I have always wanted to do this job, good luck with your career and i hope you find what your looking for. xx

Just take your resume to their office, as you would if applying for any job. You will not be involved with the deceased in any way until you become licensed to do so.
