Public Service jobs?

Why do all public service jobs make so little money?

Is there any job which you are entitled to a weapon and are paid n a large sum of money?

I believe that the people who defend our country and put their lives on the line deserve more than 53k a year.

As entry level employees, you are not worth very much. As public sector employees are usually not the best/brightest, they get paid less (after all, it is taxpayer money and the governments are accountable for it).

That being said, the public service people I know have good benefits and lots of time to goof off. The way they get livable wages is by transferring in and out of departments whenever there is an opening. After about 15 years, they are making as much or more than private sector counterparts.
