I worked with a girl that had a baby this week. I say worked because she is no longer empolyed. The retailer that we work for has let her go because she has not been employeed for a year. She is 2 weeks short of her employeement being a year. How long do you have to work at a place before going on leave?

Technically, to qualify for the Family Medical Leave Act (a federal law), you have to have worked for 1 year in which you worked 1000 hours. Every company is different as to their policy for leave, however, they just cannot be *more* restrictive than stated above. Unfortunately, it sounds like the company you work for is going by the letter of the law.

your missing something or leaving something out, you say they let her go because she has not been employed for a year, they have to let you go for a legitimate reason, they can not let you go because you have not worked for them for a year! your not making scense.
