THEY HIRE- THEY FIRE

MOVE ON--WHY CARE ABOUT WORKING AROUND SUCH NON-COMPASSIONATE HATEFUL PEOPLE?

There are several ways to interpret your situation:

1. It appears that your firm had an attendance policy with clear rules about their expectations. I can assume this because of the fact that your employer kept track of your tardiness. It sounds to me as though you violated their policy, were most likely warned and now are trying to place the blame on someone besides yourself.

2. In the instance that that firm did not have a written policy, you were never warned, and you have evidence to support your discrimination, I would say go for, sue the pants off of them. Discrimination laws are written to protect employees and to keep employers "honest."

3. He's another side of the story, why concern yourself with whether or not this firms' action was fair? Learn from this. If there is a chance that you were fired for being tardy, then work on the reason you were tardy in the first place. I imagine that you really didn't care for your job anyways and this result is more of a blessing than a curse. If you enjoyed your job, you would not give them a single reason to let you go.

In each of these scenarios, someone is at fault, either you or the firm. I hope that you can learn from this experience and use this new knowledge to the best of your ability. I wish you all the luck in the world and want you to know that your situation will improve, if you want it to...

In most states, employment is "at will"-- meaning they can terminate you whenever they want and you can quit whenever you want. You may have a case to receive unemployment-- although the employer will probably claim they terminated you for cause, and they probably have documentation of your tardies.

What was the policy on tardies (in an employee handbook or such)? If you decide to pursue unemployment, you will need this information.

However, as I said before, you have little in the way of a case for wrongful termination. Proving that you were tardy will more than likely be simple for the employer, you would need to prove that the reason was more subjective (being the only male)-- something for which there is probably no evidence other than someone's opinion (yours or others).

You were late several times.Bottom line. That makes you unreliable and shows that you cannot be punctual. You should leave earlier and you might still have a job! Don't read more into than need be. Its at-will and you got the axe for being tardy, not being a male.

Late is late. I used to work for a company that had similar policies. If you feel you've been discriminated against then the burden of proof is on you. If they claim that you were late 8 times then they will have written record of it to cover their butts, so it will boil down to your word against theirs. You need real hard evidence to tip the scales in your favor...

Doesn't matter...they can fire you for any reason. They have backed up their letting you go with a repeatedly late claim. Can you PROVE they fired you because you are male? I sincerely doubt it. They can, however prove that you were late.

Let it go & get another job.

Depends on what state you are in and if you can prove it. In Oklahoma you don't need a reason to fire someone you can fire them just because you don't like the color of their eyes.
