Doing what you love, is both fun and rewarding!
I love to design room, offices, homes, etc...and I do it with other peoples money and get paid for it! The best of Both worlds I think its what I love and I feel very rewarded when a job is done well and my clients love it!

It will differ from person to person. Assuming the job pays enough for your experience and financial needs, my theory is this:
The ultimate job is one you like enough that you don't mind waking up for it in the morning, but also one you don't like so much that you want to stay there longer than what you are paid for, because you have better things to do. It is, after all, only a job.

The ultimate job would be one that pays you for virtually doing nothing. Something that maybe involves working from home, or anywhere you can access a labtop. I would like to be able to sit at home, but these jobs (or scams) are hard to be found if they are real at all.

Doctor - you get to save lives. I can't think of a more rewarding job.

Think about it: ever see him in the tabloids with news reporters calling him names and giving him hard time? No.
yet he still has billions, gets to see the world, meets lots of people, makes all his own rules and has a blast doing it.

I know this isn't what you are looking for.. but I think the guys on the show Mythbusters have the ultimate job. The get to do the coolest expirements and blow stuff up on occassion.

photo journalism. You get to take pictures of interesting and exciting things going on in the world, travel abroad, meet cool people, be there when historic, exciting or just "news worthy" things are happening and best of all, if you take pretty good shots, you could get some pretty sweet mulah.
