That depends on how you define "successful". If you are defining it financially, then both good luck and hard work are very important - without either one, it won't happen. But you say "successful person" - if you are not defining it financially, then it's more what you DO than what kind of luck you have.

It's not about good luck or hard work. Becoming successful is about creating your own luck by making use of opportunities whenever you meet opportunities. Also, being successful is about working smart, not working hard. Any job that involves working hard usually pays very little e.g janitor, farmer, construction work, teaching, nursing etc.
