I was curious as to what type of hours that postal workers work. I know the mentality of a lot of people including myself thinks that they work Monday through Saturday till around 430pm. Know I know that if this were true everyone would want to work for them.

Recently, I spoke to one of my former clients, and she paid me a huge compliment and said I did an especially great job for her. She went on to say she spoke to my supervisor over the phone and complimented me directly to her.

When I talked to my supervisor today, she didn't even mention it! I guess my feelings were kind of hurt, because if the client hadn't told me herself, I never would have known.

We have a reward system at work and when clients feel the staff goes above and beyond, the staff are supposed to be rewarded, and I felt this would have qualified. Not that I'm terribly worried about the reward, I just think an employer should take advantage of such an opportunity to reward the dedicated work of their employees.

What should I do, if anything?

I started a business 6 months ago. One of my partners was formerly my boss that I signed a non-compete and non-solicitation with. Things didn't work out and he's no longer a partner and he's still running his company that I once worked for. Recently I hired a former colleague from under him. He's threatening to sue me. Additionally the person I hired signed the same agreement but now lives in Europe. My business was registered in NJ. Am I ok or can he still cost me lots of time and money in court?

I'm in the Nat'l Guard and I just found out today that I will be leaving for training for 5 1/2 months beginning March 23rd. Well, about a month ago I applied for a job with the Veteran's Administration and went to an interview about a week ago. Everything seems fine with that, and they are currently checking my references and background. I'm assuming that I will be offered the job, and I'll find out in about 2 weeks. If I do get the job, I won't be able to start for about another week (you can only start federal jobs at the beginning of the pay period). So, as this whole thing drags out, I would be looking at starting maybe the end of Feb, beginning of March. This is really close to my training date of March 23rd.

My ? is this: Should I let them know that I have training coming up and basically kill my chances for employment, or do I follow through and take advantage of the situation and get hired on, then tell them, when they are legally obligated to let me leave.
