How much do sports writers make in a year?

Journalism major might be more useful. The salary range is from a few thousand dollars here and there for freelance articles to many 100,000s for top-notch writers for specialized magazines and newspapers.

Journalism would be your bet.
Of course knowledge of sports an absolute must.
as a player-coach-ref is the best experience.
hands on-
howard cosell-- wrote " I never played the game". was a lawyer but did really well in sports..

some make well over a million a year.
other write articles to sell--

many work for newspapers--50/60k a year.

check out your local newspaper sports writers..

and local tv/radio sportcasters do well and get to travel a lot..

and work alone often.(out of office)..not some 9-5 office job always....

Major in a sport and English Language.

Try and also do part time work on a newspaper or radio station.
