I have been working at this job for almost ten years. I am a single parent. I am allowed 3 sick day a year. Everytime I take a day off which is hardly ever I have to deal with her torturing me all day. Screaming and following me around to purposely distract me so that I can do things wrong and she can yell. She has called me moran, stupid and even a *****. At one time she smacked me in my arm and pushed a chair from under me. She verbally abuses me. Now if i was such a bad employee why would she keep me here so long. I neglected my health for years because she would carry on for days if she knew I wasn't coming to work. I am treated different from other employees who come and go as they please. Her son who works for her has started rumors about me, even going so far as to say I was a lesbian, which i am not. No one can speak to me or go to lunch with me. I confronted her and she says that it's none of my business and deal with it.

I have been doing work experience this week as I am considering this as a career but so far it all seems quite sad with animals being put to sleep and operations where it doesn't always go well. How do you emotionally cope and make it worthwhile. I love animals but I wonder if I am too sensitive not to get upset all the time. Serious answers please.

I'm working in daycare right now and the pay sucks. My kids are grown and I have medical assistant experience, but that field is not exactly blowing and going in our area. I can't really afford to go back to school. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure a "grievance" is exactly what I'm looking for.

Here's the story. I'm the Communications director and answer only to CEO of the company and there is no in-house HR department. I often have meetings and conversations with my boss and he consistently forgets the details of our meetings/discussions. For instance I had a conversation with him over the phone yesterday and today he calls me into his office and misconstrues the details of our previous conversation, basically calling me a liar. I clearly remember every detail of the call and once again he refuses to believe what I'm saying. He is ALWAYS doing this and I've had enough! Should I write some kind of letter to him as an official "statement" or "complaint" stating the facts of our conversation and what had occurred?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I should provide more details to narrow down what I want for a career. I like to be in control and be my own boss. I don't like to be pushed around by anyone. I'm no good with math or money so trading or stocks online probably won't be good for me. I love making movies and my dream is to be somewhere in the entertainment industry. I might be able to work with people but not counsel them. I'm not into telemarketing or selling.

I started with the company in 2004 and about two years later I was fired because I had a conflict with my supervisor at the time. About 7 months later the owner of the company called my and asked me to come back to work for him and offered me more money and promised that I would not have any type of contact with that person. I now answer directly to him. She and I have very limited contact since our responsibilities with the company have nothing to do with each other. Anyway a few days ago I was having a conversation with one of my friends that is no longer employed here because she moved, well she is coming back and asked me if I thought that the company would take her back since she left in good terms…well needless to say she listen to my conversation and asked my boss if he was thinking on hiring her back, well he came back to me and asked me to be very careful on the phone because I had put him in a difficult situation…whatever that means. Now today a friend forward me a voice mail that one of our clients had left her complaining about our secretary, all he did was yell and said that she was a retard and he hung up the phone…so my friend forwarded it to me because it was funny…well she listened to my voice mail and confronted my friend regarding the message and asked her to never do that again because we are a family and we do not make fun of each other…whatever. So here is my questions, we all know that all the conversations are recorded in the company, but is it ok for her to listen to private voice mails and private conversations that have nothing to do with work?

and that they don't always take the situation into consideration? The have a list of things to answer yes or no with no room for circumstances. We got a very low grade on our last one and the boss is furious at us. It was a day that we were very busy for a while and shorthanded. On top of that the boss had put a note on the board for everyone who hadn't completed their comuter courses to complete them or they would not be on next weeks schedule . Two of the employees were busy doing these courses that can only be done during their scheduled work hours and as a result the mystery shopper didn't get waiting on in the amount of time in their department. These employees can only do one thing at once. They seem to get in trouble for just doing what they are supposed to. And the checkouts were backed up but we only had 2 people and one was brand new. Nothing is perfect all the time sp why would a sales person be? We get points off for not staring the person in the eye too. creepy

ok

So I have been sacked from my job for Gross misconduct I dont think or feel that this is the right way to sack me but because of my length of service I cannot do much.

I was sacked for 2 things they are

1. I overpaid myself for 0.5 of an hour which equates to £3.00
2. I claimed 3 days as holiday when I was sick which everyone else did throughout the company my manager asked me if I had this approved I said no removed it from my wages which I can also prove and they are saying that I claimed it.

The whole company are saying that I stole loads of money and I am a thief etc etc and I really didn't think that I had done anything wrong ( well I did but it was human error nothing more) if I was going to do this I would do it and make it worth my while !!

I cannot do anything against him but I want my name cleared and wondered if anyone knows if this would be a case for slander ??

I am currently going to school for x-ray. We do 2 month rotations at several different hospitals. At the hospital I am currently at, I have encountered some of the most rude, mean, idiotic people I've ever met. They're extremely bossy to us students, treat us like we are complete idiots, talk down to us, make fun of us, are very cold, and basically don't want to have anything to do with us at all. There are however a few people there who are genuinely nice and I try to stick with them as much as possible but it doesn't always work out that way. I basically just try to ignore the rudeness and ignorance, I don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any tips/pointers on how to deal with people like this?
