I am currently going to school for x-ray. We do 2 month rotations at several different hospitals. At the hospital I am currently at, I have encountered some of the most rude, mean, idiotic people I've ever met. They're extremely bossy to us students, treat us like we are complete idiots, talk down to us, make fun of us, are very cold, and basically don't want to have anything to do with us at all. There are however a few people there who are genuinely nice and I try to stick with them as much as possible but it doesn't always work out that way. I basically just try to ignore the rudeness and ignorance, I don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any tips/pointers on how to deal with people like this?

As a recent graduate (June '05) and now a tech with students here 3 days a week, first I'm sorry about the mean people. I had to deal with that myself. Be nice even if it kills you. My advice is to be very interested and eager. Try to do as many exams as possible. If not doing, then watching. Do not just sit there while there are exams being done...it looks very bad. Make your mantra "it will be worth it when I'm done." Good luck!

If it's just a two-month rotation, I'd just bite my tongue and deal with it. I usually don't recommend letting situations like this just fester but it sometimes takes so long to resolve the problem that you will probably be gone before any change is made. Jut don't take a permanent job there! And whenever they start working your nerves, just remember, in a few short weeks you will be out of there and never have to see those people again, but all the mean ones will still be stuck with each other!

Ignore them and do the very best job you can do every single day. You only get into trouble if you protest or try to fight back.
You're only stuck working with these jerks for 2 MONTHS, and then go on to someplace else. You can get thru 2 months.
When you finish your training, you can get a job in a better place.

Use Jedi mind tricks on them - since they are idiotic, will be a piece of cake.
Jedi typically perform this ability with a wave of the hand and a verbal suggestion (for example, "These aren't the droids you're looking for", or "We should be nice to the student workers")
If that doesn't work, use the force to choke them till they turn blue.

kill them with kindness. if you are purposefully happy go lucky constantly and act like what they do doesnt bother you then they should quit, but you got to put some sarcasm and whit into it. i find this very helpful where i work.
