I'm about to be made redundant from a grade 2 job while the position above me is vacant. The open position (grade 3) is initially being offered to other internal staff on grade 3, whose jobs are also being made redundant, then to other internals. If its unfilled it will then be advertised externally. At this point I will have left the company (with a modest payoff)

My question: Is there anything to stop me applying for the job at this point (ie as an external) and can the company refuse to consider me having just made my previous job redundant and given me severence pay?

BTW, this may confuse things but, I am effectively already doing the job of the open postion anyway - just on a reduced salary

let me explain. I will be making a choice. I am extreemly unhappy in my current job and will have a chance to terminate my contract soon. Should I do it even though I am unsure what stability I will have on the other side... or just continue being miserable but fiancially stable?

I m selected as a Vocational Instructor (Printing and Book Binding) for physically handicapped persons, a central govt job. pay scale is 5000-150-8000/- & gross i will get around 14000/-. My nature of duties is to guide properly to all physically handicapped persons in the field of printing and book binding. (a teaching job) Non transferable. Posting is in valley of kashmir i.e. SRINAGAR (jammu and kashmir). India.

Presently i m working as a assistant (printing) in an autonomous body at pay scale 4000-100-6000/- and getiing gross around 11000/- with approx all benifits of central govt.

Which is better for me for ???????
Srinagar or Delhi.

I have a own house in Delhi and i m eldest & unmarried living with all family members (Parents, Brothers & sisters). I don't know kashmiri language also. I am HINDU.

Can any one really guide me.. Please give reason also.

I am a law graduate from UK and have been working as investment analyst *** broker for 10 years in Malaysia. My wife is a HR manager in a PLC. We have 2 daughters. We have gone through the Assessment Test and passed but we are not certain whether it is for Visa or PR application. Some said PR some mention Visa only. I have checked many websites for jobs but majority are for "residents". If we apply for working visa, should we get a job first or should we apply visa first? Without a job, can we obtain a visa or even a PR? If it is PR, can we apply government jobs upon granting of the PR or do we need to wait for a few years?

I am working full time (Mon-Fri). I need to increase my monthly income for survival. 2 children, secondary & u-grad. Their expenses increase yearly but I have not got any increment since 2 years ago. I will not have any increment unless I can be promoted to the next salary grade. It would not be likely any time soon, no project in the pipeline, in fact, dept will be downsized in 1- year time.
I have been doing data entry,transcription,translation etc part time on weekends. I am still willing to continue doing that, but 2nd income not constant.
I wish to also try doing biz online like ebay, but do not know how to start at all.
My children are also taking up end week jobs on and off.
I hope to be able to handle expenses so that they both are able to concentrate on study. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Ok. I'm interested in doing further study. I have a BA (Linguistics & Anthropology) and Dep Ed (TESL). I am thinking of perhaps doing some Special Needs (gifted and learning disabled) Education or maybe Linguistics (language disorders). I just don't know what to do!
