The rate depends on where you live. I have been a stay at home mom for 2 yrs, but will be going back to work next month. I have an 8 and 2 yr old. I placed an add in the paper for childcare for them and go alot of responses...I forgot to mention that I am going back to work for a company that has offered me the best pay I have ever been offered. Its more than my husband gets paid and he has been with his company for 7 yrs...Anyways, my neighbor responded to my add and offered to watch my kids..Convenient but absolutely outrageous rates!! My husband works daytime hrs 6a-7p. I will be working 4p-12. So my kids will only be there at most 4 hrs a day..And she is charging me $160/wk..Thats almost 11$/hr..And thats OUTRAGEOUS. Almost beneficial not to go back to work with those rates..ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET DEPENDABLE CHILDCARE NOWDAYS FOR REASONABLE RATES.Where i live, the average family spends 33% of their income on childcare alone. Its always better if you have a family member willing to help out for cheap
