My boss is singling out two individuals and having them do things that are not common to the whole group. They have to account for every minute that they are not driving their bus route. If they have a layover, they have to account for the entire time. When they (alone) inspect their schoolbus they are watched by the boss constantly. This started AFTER a grievance was filed by the one and the other is a shop steward. This boss also singles out these two employees, leaving them out of memos, etc. One gets notes on her hook to wash her bus, no one else does, and nit picks everything. The driver is at her wits end. Does this constitute a hostile work enviornment?

Im in a point in my life when I need to decide what I am going to do with my life next? Im getting my Bachelors in psychology in December of next year, and am unsure if I should try to get into medical school to eventually become a psychiatrist or graduate school to eventually become a psychologist. I know the obvious differences, money, schooling, etc... but any other opinions on whcih I should choose? I do plan on getting my PhD in either also.

The company I work for is Union, and about ready to go on strike. I live paycheck to paycheck as it is, with a mortgage, carpayment, and all the bills, not to mention now heating oil. I don't want to go on strike, I was planning on continuing coming to work, but now it seems that anyone who walks through the picket line will NOT have a job when the strike is over! Will my mortgage company and bank understand if I explain to them that there is a strike and I will not be able to make my payment that month? How can I continue to make money, because all the other jobs in the area are all minimum wage, and I can't afford to live on that either.

I am retired military, I have my BA in psychology, my MA in higher education administration, completed an internship in the career office of a local university and was a division & department career counselor while in the Navy - I have applied for about 400 positions over the past 2 years and have had interviews but no offers. The only thing I have been told is that someone with more experience was hired - how can I get the experience? Can anyone give me some ideas, I have run out of them. Thanks.

I admit that I know very little about Amway, but I've heard stories about people getting rich from selling their products. I've also heard that it's more like Scamway, though. Does anyone have any input?

I'm very interested in the job...bubbly personality, presentable, good at sales and speaking with people. I will be graduating college with a degree in science in 2 years. How can I get into that right after college? Also what does this job entail? A lot of travel? Are the hours long? Can you work on your own time eventually? How does it all work. Oh and what about the pay....?

when they are getting paid real money for the job they are doing. Okay, so maybe it is not their chosen career and they are not making as much money as they would like, but I know of no employer who pays with monopoly money for a job done... well or other wise. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but all the jobs I've worked have been REAL jobs. Thank you for letting me vent.

I start a new job in two weeks and my vacation will be available to me in six months. I have a new baby and my parents are 2,000 miles away and retired. They have not seen her yet. I told them I will try to come in the spring. She said she wants to see the baby more than anything but I should not use my vacation even though it is available to make a good impression at work. How is taking a week off making a bad impression. What do you think?

I have been unemployed for the past 3 months. Before that I was employed full time for the last 11 years and earned my bachelor's degree in managment a few months ago. During my unemployment period I have been applying for jobs and have had interviews but have not landed a job as of yet. I look back and see that I have not been aggressive enough in my job search and need to drastically pick up the pace. Is is acceptable to personally go to the companies and ask for an interview? I need to get a job ASAP.

I am a 22/m/white. I am a sr in college grad in may and we are having a career fair next week at school and I will be interviewing for jobs. I was wanting to know, is it ok to wear small round gold ball studs? I want to look professional, but my earrings are a part of me. I normally wear square diamond studs but I know that is too much. I was wondering about the small ball studs. I am a psych major and want to be a juve delinq counselor. Many people have told me that employeers are ok with guys wearing earrings as long as they are subtle like the ones I am talking about. I wasn't sure. I don't think it should be that big of a deal. I have a professional, mature look. However, I like to be myself and express myself as well. A job isn't your identity. What do you think?? I am torn because I am not sure if the small ball studs are too much. I don't think so, but that's me. I try to keep them in 24/7 so that my right ear lobe doesn't close. I have some problems with it growing up fast.

On Monday, my boyfriend had to go to his head office for a disaplinary for being constantly late at work. He is on his final warning now.
He has just been asked to go for an interview today for a much better job but there is no way they will give him the day off. He desperately wants to go for it but it means phoning his manager tonight and giving some excuse.
It's not going to look too good if he does this and he could get the sack. Any ideas
